tries, the newcomers to Canada
from Holland and other count
ries . and other films, Between
films Terry ' Wilson played a
piano solo and Mary Purdon
played a piano solo, Mr. and Mrs.
Garnet Farrier gave a couple of
numbers with his saxaphone. The
National Anthem was .sung and
a social half hour was enjoyed
by all.

In his report to Bruce Cdunty
Council, Dr. D, R. Alien, director
and medical officer of health'for
the: county health unit said an
office has been opened in ’Kip-
cardine. This is iri addition t(\
offices already established in
Teeswater, Lucknow, Southamp
ton and Wiartori and the head
office in Walkerton.
His report covered January to
the end of October of this year.
He explained that iri the medical
and-nursing division, ithe school
health program consists, of in-
spection of the individual child
by a nurse as well asf the testing
pf vision. '
With consent of the parent
each child entering school and
each newcomer receives a com
plete physical examination by the
medical officer. The parent and
fariiily physician are notified of
any defects discovered. Children
with previously noted defects are
.re-examined. Those children re-
quiring^lx>oster7^in<iculations\ or
vaccination are given- the neces
sary protection. • ,
The tuberculin testing of all
high school studerits' was' carried
out in the spring, with the chest
x-raying of positive reactors as
well as/immediate family mem
bers in the home.
A total of 3,978 school children
were tested, an increase over the
same period last year of 98. Vis
ion tests increased frorri 2,081 to.
3,388. The number of children
'requiring examination by the
M.O.H. dropped from 1,082 to
692: • '
The nurses made 7,456> home
Visits; an increase of 1,328. .These

culosis, crippled children, etc.

Hall, Monday evening, as guests
of the Whitechurch Forum when

latter film was. especially inter
esting, being “ colored. Musical;

are new ten monthly clinics held
throughout the county. Attend
ance was 3,332, infants and pre
school - children, considerably
more than last year’s 2,304.
A special immunization clinic
was held at Tobermory in spring
and fall. Total inoculations were
3,168 and vaccinations 1,453.
Total attendance at the 3(b
chest clinics was 958, an increase
of 25. No cases of poliomyelitis
were reported in the county.

were 1,429 water samples -taken;,
restaurant inspections, 505; drain-,
age problems,, 217; septic, tank'in
stallations,, 702; food shop inspec

710 visits to dairies and produc
ers. .There were 344 tests per-
