and Margaret Wallace and might
well be - them of bygone
days in this traditionally Scottish
community.
: For- Neil is a member of the
first Pipe Band organized in
Lucknow over 46 years ago. He,
Bari (Joe) .McCoy and Cameron
Geddes, are, it is believed, the’
only living members of the band
w”hicfi had its beginning early in
the century. . “ .
Their first get-together was on I

Good Friday Aof 1908, and on that
occasion Neil recalls that the per
sonnel included Pipers Bill
Young, ' Dave , Towers, George
Manri, Neil MadCallum; bass
drummer, Aaron Fitzell and side
drummer, Earl McCoy..
Their . numbers soon increased
and others turning opt with that
first band were Jack 'MacLennan,
Kenny MacLennan, Xamerbn
Geddes. Black . Dan. Martin was
their towering drum major and a
good highland dancer.,
Neil recalls their first out-of*
town appearance was at the
Lighthouse on May 24th, 1908,
when they made the trip to the

Neil has early pictures of the
band tak^h at Ernbro and Listo-
wel. He continued as an active y
member of the band until rheumy
atism stiffened his fingers sev
eral years ago. Now at 7f, he
is severely crippled, but is, op
timistic that he will yet make a
recovery, and certainly has lost
none of his ardor or enthusiasm
for Scottish traditions arid cus-.
