A pleasant evening was spent in Kintail Hall on May 24th when, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Van der Lay celebrated'their. 25th wedding an­ niversary. All the members of their family were present, and were joined by their Holland friends in Ashfield, also by friends from Oshawa, Sarnia and. Wingham, numbering about 300. In the afternoon they had a fam­ ily dinner and in the evening gathered to the hall where they were again joined by their Cam adian friends with whom they have mingled since coming" to~ Canada five years ago.. During those years the Van der Lays- have contributed in no small way to the best interests of the com­ munity life and are highly es­ teemed in the neighborhood, The evening was spent singing^ Songs of their native land,. dialogues, recitations; and speeches by Rev, J. R. MacDonald, their minister, and Rev. R. A. Macconnell, of Lucknow and their nearest neigh­ bor, Mi*, Murdo Matheson. They receiyed many individual gifts. They were called to the platform and Rev. J. R. MacDonald ad­ dressed them ’ again,", after which Donald Simpson. presented them with a purse from their Can­ adian friends and neighbors. Lott.: Quite a few from here, attend­ ed the flower anniversary ser­ vices at St. Helens. Rev. Kim from-Koreagave-an-interesting address and showed pictures of Korea after the evening service. The anniversary services in the- -Presbyterian church -were well attended both morning and evening. In the morning the choir sang an anthem and Miss Bertha McKay of London sang two solos, one of, them “The Ninety and Nine”, requested for Mrs. Ken­ nedy, she being the oldest mem­ ber of the church. In the evening the choir sang an anthem, two extra numbers, a quartette and a duet>with Mr. and Mrs. J. Mc­ Gee. There will be no. services in the Presbyterian church next Sunday owing to the anniver­ sary services in . the United Church when Rev. Robt. Morrison of Brant­ ford is visiting his son, Mr. and Mrs. Ti Morrison.
