FORMER BUTTERMAKER DIES
* The ' death of John Herbert
Wade, 73, occurred at his
home near Jforwich on Saturday
after a brief illness.
He was a cheesemaker and ibut-
termaker by tirade, arid >• at one
^ime was employed as butter
maker at the Lucknow plant of
Silverwood Dairies. A
He i$ survived by his wife, six
sons ancT three daughters, Edgar,
Parkhill; Frank," Wallaceburg;
Harry, Ingersoll; Lorne, Chatham;
, Roy, Woodstock; Stanley, Van
couver; Mrs. Leslie (Irene) Har
ris, London> Mrs. Christopher
(Edith) Beedle, London; Mrs.
George (Anna) Booth,. London;
20 grandchildren and 11 great-
granddhiidren. '

A presentation banquet was
held in the Recreational Centre
last Thursday, to honor the Luck
now Bantam hockey team, cham
pions of the “D” divistion of the
Western Ontario Athletic Associ
ation and finalists for the; Qiv
tariO; Minor Hockey Association
crown (which was won by Brook-
Jin.’;
The capacity crow.d^enjoyed_„a
delicious dinner served by the
team-- mothers to/start the ev-
ening. Following the dinner, Mr,.
J, W. Joynt acted as chairman
for the evening. A sing song led
iby Mr. Hervey Bride end the
“Four Lucknow Lads” proved
popular. Reeve S. E. Rotbertson
was called on to propose a toast
to the team, and this was very
fittingly replied to by Albert
Chin. . ?
Mr. Joynt then called on Tom
Rafferty to present the Harold
Dunk trophy, emblematic of the
O.M.H.A. Bantam “D” finalists.
Mr. Rafferty, who was acting for
president Mike^ Weichel, brought
congratulation s from
O.M.H.A., and emphasized to
boys that while playing in
O.M.H.A., they were in
world’s largest minor sport
ganization. He then presented
trophy to Eugene Gardner, cap
tain of the team.
Mr.' Harry Doughty, president
ofj the W.O.A.A., was called on
to ^present the Wally Wein of
D a s h w o, o d ' trophy for the
W. O. A. A; championship. Mr.
Doughty stressed that the Luck

too. He paid tribute to Albert

Ken put his name on the dotted
line last Wednesday, when Howie
Meeker of the Leaf organization
called at the Hodgkinson home
by appointment.
. Ken will get free . collegiate
tuition ,at St., Michael’s* College
in Toronto, and will enter that
school as a third form student
in September.
