OBITUARY JOHN DONALD MaoLEOD Death came suddenly on Fri­ day, April 9th to John Donald MacLeod, $ lifelong resident of the~ Township yof Kinloss. Mr. MacLeod, though not in the best, of health, haid spent a pleasant evening with members of his family and had retired' in his usual health. He was stricken Avith a cerebral hemorrhage dur­ ing the night, and succumbed within ashort yme./1 ’. Mr, MacLeod was born on the farm on which he died—Lot - 7, Con. 5, Kinloss, and just the pre­ vious Wednesday had arranged for the sale of the old homestead to Mr,. Jim Glahn pfoBervie. Mr. MacLeod-^ father had .taken the land up from the Crown in 1853, just ,a little over one hundred years ago,v and had handed it down to John, so that only their two names appeared on the cen­ tury-old deed. , John Donald was one of a fam­ ily of eleven children, five of whom survive. He was a son of James MacLeod and Christena Maclnnes and was born on De­ cember 10th, 1879. Mr.. MacLeod will , be greatly missed in. this community, where he was very well known and was substantial in the old traditions. He Was very much interested dh The—workvof-South-Kinloss-Rres-- bytefian Church where he had served for twenty-five years as an elder and was a former mem­ ber of the choir. He had belong­ ed to the Canadian Order of For­ resters’since 1901, ’ The funeral service was held at South Kinloss Church on Mon­ day, April 12th, -conducted /by Rev. G. S. Baulch. Interment was in the family plot in South Kin­ loss Cemetery, with Wm, J. Bain,, Alex Sutherland, Jim Burt, . Hugh Sutherland, Ross MacMillan and Aliister Hughes acting as pall­ bearers. ‘ . MARY MIJLLIN Mrs. Mary, Mullin, the last sur­ viving member of the family of Andrew .Nelsoh and Jane Hogg of ’Ashfield Township; passed away at Goderich Hospital on April . 10th, after a lengthy illness of more than three years, She was born1 in Ashfield on ,August 14th, 1876. ) In 1900 she* married John Mul­ lin, who predeceased her in De­ cember 1939. After going to Goderich she attended Victoria St. United Church. Hawkins and Donald Sinden, in “CRUEL SEA” ip the. passing of Lily Mae Ed­ wards, wife . of Herbert Miller and daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Edwards. 7- Though the family has lived near Lucknow for over a year she was a native of the Belmore district, and lived most of her life there. She hfad been ill for two months with a malignant dis- east; 6 weeks of that time was spent in Wingham Hospital. She was in her 41st year and leaves to mourn: her husband and twelve young children, William, DoniTa," John, .Gordon, Marjorie, \ Irene,. Glenn, Sandra Mae, Robert, Carol and Carl f (twins), and Wayne; also, ope sister,.Mrs. Herbert Bus­ by (Margaret), and six brothers, ' Irwin, Clare, Harry and Leslie of London, Clayton of Listowel and Lome near Teeswater. Mrs.-Miller was of a bright, cheerful disposition and was very fond of music. Before she was married she was much in demand as an accompanist on the piano.
