RED CROSS
This is the time of the year
When: our appetites may become
somewhat Jjaded’. Mine never
does—I continue to enjoy food,
and food continues to agree with
me. But some people do get
‘picky’ round about now. I do,
■myselfrenjoy^tartfruits
more than any other time, per-
hapsr--T?he-tang~ofgrapefruitirr
dessert or salad, the flavor of
lemon in puddings and other des
serts seems to just ‘hit the spot’.
We had a lemon pudding for
dinner, one of those with the
, sauce on the bottom of the pan.
They are always popular with'
I the family and are- so \ easy to

Kin tail Women’s Institute *. ‘
The March meeting of the Kin-
tail W. I. was held at the home
of Mrs. Dave McKenzie. -A large
number answered, the roll call
‘‘An Irish Song”, and payment
of fees. Cards from the sick were’
read. The cook book was discuss
ed and members asked to bring
.forts'of«the prayers and help of
women everywhere.
Mrs. H. Buckton gave the trea
surer’s report and read a letter
from the Presbyterial president,
Mrs. .Baulch, who urged to do Jill
possible to meet the allocation
which has increased this year.
Mrs. A. MacIntyre spoke bn the
British and Foreign Bible Soc-;‘
iety, the title of the talk being
“That they might have Life”, The
members observed two minutes
silence in memory of the late
Mrs. Duncan Graham who was a
life member of the Society. Mrs.
Baulch then performed a pleasing
duty by presenting Mrs. Douglas
— Grahain—with-a lifemembership
< certificate, thanking her for all
her faithful work. through past
years for the WjMJS. ' ' ' ' ■
A hymn and prayer closed the
meeting. A vote of thanks was
given tq Mrs. E. Keith for the I
use of her home and to the dir
ectors, Mrs. H. Buckton, and Mrs.
T. MacKenzie for an enjoyable
lunch. ■'' ', It’s a toss-up as to which is the

Hav$ you ever tried my Susan’s,.
Quidk Pudding? It’s John’s fav
orite of all puddings, but ‘as is’
the man of the house thinks it
is ‘flat’. I tried it witty grated
orange or lemon rind in the bat
ter, which is a nice improvement.
But a bit of chopped preserved
ginger really is the answer. Now
is could be the family ,favo1rite,
and it is so easy, to make.
Chopped preserved ginger adds
extraydelicious-flavortoalmost
any apple pudding. We are very
fond of it in just plain; apple
sauce too.

enough loose crumbs to sprinkle
over the top of each piece after
you have cut 'it—Unless you man
ipulate a crust that sticks to
gether better than I do.
