Others held; a negative opinion/ saying df we accept larg­ er Federal grants we would not retain the same control over our schools. One member was of the opinion that too much money was being spent oh our High Schools, pointing out that busses are hired to convey , the scholars to and from school to save them the effort of walking, then pro­ vide expensive gymnasiums to give them exercise. MEETING DESPITE WEATHER Lucknow Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion. Branch No. 309 Was held in the Auxiliary Rooms on Tuesday, March 2nd, and despite the weather 26 mem­ bers were present. Mrs; Philip MacMillan presided and was as­ sisted in opening the meeting by Standard Bearer Ethel Armstrong and pianist Mrs. John Hall. Busi- .’nes? was discussed including tho Auxiliary ‘birthday party pot luck supper, which is to be held on Thursday, April . 8th at 6.30 p.m. .Mrs. Bob Armstrong and Mrs. Jack England are to be in charge of. the Navy League tag day. Mrs. Helen Hedley, convener of sew­ ing committee, gave a wonderful leport on work done and wq^k on hand which is for the bazaar next Fall, and much of which she had»on display. The next Child Conference is to be held on Tuesday, March 16 from 1.0 to-11.30 a.m.. with.doctor... and nurses from Bruce County Health Unit. at. Walkerton.
