J. Black- well, motored all the way, travel- ’ ling over 3500 miles. Mr. Harris, who will ibe Righty-Six years old in September, stood the journey remarkably well. Enroute they stopped at Underwood, North Da kota to visit a daughter and also a son in Chicago. s . Mr. Harris is a brother of the late Thomas H. Harris of Lot 3, Con. 7, Kinloss Township, where he was born and .raised. As a young man he went to North Da­ kota, where he followed the trade of carpenter. There, he married Henrietta Cameron, > 3 native of Ontario. They raised a iamily of ten children, eight of whom are still. living throughout parts of the United States. In 1942 they :celebratedtheiT“golden~ wedding anniversary, Mrs. Harris passed away in 1943. Four years previous ' to that they had moved from North Dakota to Glendale, Cat, and"Since“~Mrs.Harris’deathhe has made his home with Mr. and Mrs, Blackwell. Mr. Harris said he felt quite at home as he drove into Goder­ ich and was quite elated to arrive at Lucknow and Holyrood but he saw manv changes. He missed the large orchards and old board and rail fences /but was pleased to see the farms and homes being moderhizedi He' has retained a remarkable memory and could re­ call many old names. Most of his old neighbors have passed on but he was glad to have-a^-shortvisit—with-Charles Congram, Richard Baker and Dan i Smith and do some reminiscing. ZArthougih his visit was all too short he saw many of his rela­ tives and says he expects to be back again next year. He thinks he will make the trip by air next time.
