Rate Up Half Mill The County rate for 1953 was struck at ll1/^ mills,- of which 5 mills is. for highways purposes and 6y2 mills for general pur­ poses. This is an increase, of Ya- mill over the_ 1952 _rate and- will- raise a total of $373,161.64. In ad­ dition, the sum of $14,535.88 will 1 Ibe required to be raised for High land Continuation School, pur­ poses. I The Highways committee re- jiorted^thatdts-appropriatioh^had been sharply reduced by the De­ partment of Highways. For this year’s program, a large part of the available; funds will , be used for maintenance. They are, how­ ever, planning construction of a bridge west of Armow an,d one on the Elderslie-Brant boundary road. It is also planned to recon­ struct the road froni_.Scone_-.to- iChesreyl'S'tllrtbn’s bridge to Bur-: goyne, Mildmay west to the Cul- ross boundary, and west of Pais­ ley on North Street. . The County History committee reported that the revision of the history of the County of Bruce is still being held up because the local history of Southampton has not yet been, received. . Offered Museum Building The Special County Museum committee reported that it. had been offered , the use of the old Kincardine school building for a County museum, an.d that it had been assured of the support of the County Women’s Institutes to the extent of $1,500.00. While no definite action has been taken, the Committee was; authorized to. pursue its investigations.
