cided to make a donation to a
museum fund. The new officers

tin and Mrs. H. Campbell were
appointed to attend the Guelph
conference on May 7th and 8th.
Blue Cross fees are. to be paid to
| Mrs. George Ldckhart by May 11.

have the offer of homes for 1953-
54 meetings. Mrs. T. A. MacDori-
ald reported for,. Ithe Sunshine
Committee. The roll call was “In
stitute resolutions for the coming
yeaf”. Mrs. Steer siang a solo,
“When it’s springtime in the
Rockies” accompanied by Mrs.'
Scott."
Miss Baillie, the health nurse,
was guest speaker and in an in-
'teresting manner explained; her
work and that of the Bruce Co.
Health Unit.
Mrs. Tom MacKenzie gave the
closing remarks and thanked all
who had contributed to the pleas
ant afternoon. , ■
The next’(meeting is to be held
at the home of Mrs. Gilbert Ham
ilton on May 28|th.
FIRE COMPANY HELP .
ANNUAL TURKEY BANQUET
The third annual* banquet of
the Lucknow Fire Company, was
held in the Recreational Centre
last Wednesday night. Present at
the gathering were/members of
the Fire Coinpany-^active, new
and . honorary, and their wives.
Reeve Stuart E. Robertson and
members of the Council and 'their
wive§.A delicious turkey dinner with
all the fixings was served by St.
Peter’s Church ladies. Lloyd Hall
extended thanks* to the ladies for
catering and Mrs. (Stew.art. Lavis
replied. Fire Chief K. C. Murdie
presided for an informal round
of remarks from some of Ithe
gathering, including S. E. Robert
son, S. B. Stothers, Cam T^iomp-
son, Cam MacDonald, Stuart
Collyer and Bud Thompson.
The banquet committee was

Donald, and they were thanked
for the job they did by the Chief.
Euchre was then played with

Next Wednesday night a meet
ing. will be held in the Dungan
non agricultural hall for the pur
pose of organizing a swine club.
This is the first time the Society
has sponsored such a club and a„
representative from the Huron
County Agricultural Office will
be present to" explain the plan.
Several, have indicated their in
tention: of joining. At least ten
entries are required to form a
club. Anyone interested may con
tact the club leaders/ Omair
Brooks and Arnold Alton.
OBITUARY
—MRS.MARGARETFRASER
The death of Mrs. Margaret
Finlay Fraser, twin sister of Rus
sell Middleton of Kinloss, occur
red suddenly at her home at
Nepawin, Sask., on April 10th.
The funeral service Was held at
the ,•••.. Carruthers Funeral Home,
London, on Saturday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. Angus Taylor
of Richards Memorial United
church. Interment was at London
in Forest Lawn Memorial Gar
dens with six nephews acting as
pallbearers.
Mrs. Fraser would, have been
68 on June 3rd. She was one of
a family of four sons and four
daughters, of George Middleton
and Mary Huntey and was born
in Lucknow. The family later
moved to Ashfield and then to
the Fourth of Kinloss fartm now
owned by- Her—twin brother^——:
After her marriage to John
Fraser, they farmed on the Sixth
of Kinloss before going West
many years ago.

brothers, William of Forest and*
Russell of Kiriloss are the sole
survivors. , .
Mrs. Trase'r leaves three; sons,
Stewart A. Fraser of Toronto;
Harold in Lakeside, Ont., and
Lome H. Fraser, London; ■ two

grandchildren.
Mrs* Fraser was predeceased by
two z sons, Melvin, ,‘s who. was el*
ectrocuted a few years ago and
was buried in South kinjoss Cem
etery, and Clarence; who died
one year ago. He was buried in
London. A daughter, Lillian Fras-.
er, died as a child* .

decided to take it easy; thus the
reason for no edition off the Cub -
News last week.
Activities are underway again
in the “Jungle” and last week’s
meeting included more instruc- -
tion and testing in Star work. .
This week will see the final
games in. the Indoor Hockey ,
schedule, and after last week’s
thriller there should be soipe
real excitement.

The extra-hours of daylight after
supper now make, it easy to for
get when you get'out playing.
Charlie Chin was the chair
man for the Friday assembly. The
hymn “Lead Kindly Light” was
sung and Mack MacDonald read
the scripture, psalm. 56. The
Lord’s prayer was repeated and
the1 hymn, “I need Thee every
hour” was sung. A piano solo,.
“Deep Purple” was played by
Ruth Johnston; the F.L.G. Club-
sang a quartette. Roddy Wraith
favored with a guitar solo and
Donna Lannan read some jokes.
The school song was sung and
the announcements made.
The annual cadet inspeLtfbn
will be held on May 5th
year. This is an important day
of our school term; (but one that
has been fully apprecib t ed by the
public during /the past few years,
The students practise daily to
give their inspectors, their par
ents, and the townspeople a show ,
to be proud of. The L.D.H.S. band
leads the corps and this year we
understand /may play a short con- j
certafiterwards.-The girlsualso_go_—j
on parade and laSt year especially
literally “stole ^the shbw” from
