FRANK JOHNSTON Mrs. Emily Alberta Johnston,, widow of the late John Franklih Johnston, died« at her home,. Cam­ bria Road, Goderich, Wednesday night, March 11th. She was in her 78th year. A couple of weeks ago when I was hunting for my, peanut butter chiffon pie, I came across some other ways of using pea­ nut butter. Peanut Butter Saucte: (Yummy, yummy-on- ice- cream) -i—%—cup white; corn syrup, *3 tbsp, water, % tsp. salt, ’A cup peanut blit­ ter. Combine first three ingred­ ients in sauce pan. Bring tp boil. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter, beat with egg beater to blend. Serve oh ice cream. Chop­ ped peanuts, sprinkled on top, gilds the lily properly. Will„keep in coivered jar in refrigerator. Peanut Butter Macaroons: two egg Whites, % cup gran, sugar, J/4 tsp. almond flavoring, 2 cups crisp rice cereal, one-third cup peanut butter, one-eighth tsp. salt. Heajt oven moderately hot. Beat egg whites until they, form moist peaks. Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition, Add flavoring.. Fold in remaining in­ gredients. .Drop by teaspopns on­ to Well-greased cookie sheet. Bake about, 2CT minutes in moder- ate < oven.. . . ' Sandwich Combinations 1. Peanut butter, and sliced bam anas. Peanut butter and chopped dates or raisins mixed with a dash of lemon juice; 3. Peanut buttei* and grated car­ rot/' 4. Peanut butter and sliced olives. 5. Peanut butter and crisp, chop- ’ ped ^bacon. . r 6. Peanut butter and" orange marmalade. How would yoU like to try this salad? Applesauce/Cheese Salad, Ap­ plesauce Layer: % cup water, P/2 cups thick applesauce, 1 package lime' gelatine. Cheese Layer— 1 tsp. uniflavored gelatin, 1 tbsp, cold water, J/4 cup hot water, cup diced celery, *4 cup mayon­ naise. Combine % cup water and applesauce, .heat to .boiling. Add lime-flavored gelatdh, .stir until dissolved. Cool. Rour half of mix­ ture into oiled 1V2. quart mold. Chill firm. Soften 1 tsp. unflaivor- ed gelatine in 1 tbsp, cold water; dissolve in hot water; < Add re­ maining ingredients. Mix; thor* pughjy. Pour/ into mold. Chill until firm. Add .remaining apple- .sauce mixture. Chill. Unmold on lettuce. Garnish; with~ybu guess* ed- it! Chopped parsley.
