TO SAVE A CHILD’S LIFE?
■ : w1’’', '/X ;
“More likely, you’d plunge clothes-op into
- deep water, unhesitatingly dash into a
"burning building, or take all manner of
: risks in an emergency to save ' •
someone’s life. •
This may not be as spectacularly heroic, but
• a year you do have the privilege of sharing in
the humanitarian work of the Red Cross. And just as
9 surely as you support this vVork financially,
you are helping save lives, and alleviate suffering,

MIDGETS ENTER
ONTARIO FINALS
Lucknow Midgets ’are jn the
.Ontario ,“D’’ finals and will meet
either Nobleton or Minden for the1
provincial championship,. When
the series will commence was not
known on Tuesday, but a- few
days’ layoff is .expected and
which is welcomed here as High
School examinations are on. this
week. ■ “
Lucknow won their way into
the finals by .takingLSt. George
(near Brantford) by a pscore . of
21 to 8 op the round. Lucknow
- sw’anjped the visitors ori iSatuf--
.day night by a'score of 15'--to 1,
before 500 fans, bu^ in the Paris
arena , on Monday night the St.
George team were a . different
looking squad and eked out a
T. to 6 victory.
St. George players and supports
ers arrived, at Sepdyville confi
dent and/cocky and viewing this*
series as just something that had
to be taken care of, on the silver
ware trail.
The pre-game warm-up indicat
ed they might have reason for
their - confidenceyi -but it didn’t
take the smwthforking Luck-
• how kids long to deflate them.
I By the half-way mark in the first
period Lucknow had. pumped in
four goals without reply.
The second- frame was even
iwdrse for Str Gebfge;~ Charlie
Chin took brother. Jack’s face-off
pass and soloed in for a goal in
' 7 seconds; which sparked ..Luck-.
’ now to 8 goals in this frame, and
they addedr three more in1 the
third.
Charlie Chin spearheaded the
attack with 6 goals, Roy Stanley
got .4, Kenny McNay 3_and Jack
Chiir2.' .< ‘'
. But the entire teairi turned in
a superlative effort. he second
line worked hard, checked well,
arid carried the. attack but, had
no luck around the net. McNay
and Gibson were a stout defense,
with Kenny's speedy offense
thrusts arid hard shooting a feat
ure./
The passing attack and stick
handling of the Chin boys, ably
assisted by Roy Stanley, was
pretty to watch for everyone but
the frustrated St. George kids.
But on their home ice on Mon
day,’with a couple of “homer”
referees, ,’tis claimed, the St.
George team played it rough and
rugged. At that Lucknow led 4-0
at one point, and it wassriot until
fhe third period that St. George
took the lead, with. Lucknow
playing it cautiously to avoid in-
_ juries.. Ron Graham ^dicbllt make
the trip and the boys missed this
hard-working, strorig-skating sec
ond line centre man. Young
Hughie MacMillan substituted on
this line. *
