The 84th Huron County Plowing Match will be held at the farm of Jim Scott at 39498 Belgrave Road, two miles west of Belgrave on Aug. 25 and 26. The event is split into two days with the “Junior Day” being held on Thursday, Aug. 25 and the Official Plowing Match competition being held on Friday, Aug. 26. Junior Day is when the Princess Competition and the Junior 4H Competition starts at 1 p.m. On Friday, the plowing begins early in the morning and continues throughout the day. A delicious breakfast is available for everyone including the participants. Later in the afternoon the favourite “donkey class” competition is held which requires the participants to remain seated on their tractor seat for the entire event. As well as displays there will also be antique farm equipment and speeches that are held as part of the Queen competition at 1 p.m. onFriday.The crowning of the 2011-2012Queen will be held at the plowing awards banquet on Friday starting at 5 p.m. Banquet tickets are available at the Belgrave Variety Store, McGavin Farm Equipment or Hyde Brothers near Hensall and Maja Dodds 519-527-0686.
