Many thanks to Allana of Carrick
Wines from the Walkerton area who
did a super job with the wine tasting
for the girls and to Gay Lea who
supplied the cheese for the evening.
Organizers Ann Ross, Joyce Adams
and Debbie Currie did a great job
putting the night together and
Luanne Kerr again did a good job
with the table centrepieces.
The Wednesday morning senior
men had 22 golfers on a beautiful
sunny morning. Don Bone fired a 41
for low gross and also won low net
honours followed by Doug Neil,
second and Tom Robinson, third.
Neil also received the closest to the
pin award with Gar Lawrence taking
home the prize for the longest putt.
The Thursday night men had a
record 67 guys hit the links on a
great summer evening. Ed Daer shot
a terrific round of 33 for low round
for the night. The closest to the pin
awards went to Bob Foxton and John
Dybes. Dybes also picked up a
longest putt prize along with Warren
Rich and Russ Danbrook. Hidden
score winners were Don Edgar, Aart
DeVos, Muzz, Coghlin, Joe
O’Rourke and R. Buchanan.

It was great to see a large crowd at
the Sportsmen’s club second annual
“Pig Jig” despite a very rainy day.
Great job to all members of the club.

LANDFILL FEE
CHANGES
As of August 15th, 2011, by resolution of The Township of North
Huron Council, the East Wawanosh Landfill fees were amended
as follows:
Minimum Fee of $10.00 up to 5 standard bags (40 lbs. per bag) of
household garbage. Each additional household bag will be $2.00.
Fees will be doubled for loads of unsorted garbage.

victor was in a recent game against the Brussels Tigers.

The Walton Brewers put seven
runners across the plate in the
second inning last Wednesday
evening as they went on to claim a
9-1 decision over the Brussels
Tigers in a Huron County Fastball
League contest played at the Walton
ball park.
Scott McDonald went the distance
on the mound for the Brewers,
tossing a three-hitter.
Ron Stevenson had a triple and
double for the Brewers with Darryl
Houston connecting for an inside-
the-park home run. Paul Dolmage
rapped out three singles, with Ron
Strome contributing a pair of
singles. Scott Cox and Blaine Markshad one single apiece.Matt McCall had an RBI triple forBrussels and Sean Johnston had a
single and scored the team’s only
run. Tom Hickling also had a single.
Mike Watson started on the
mound for the Tigers with Ty
Sebastian taking over in relief.
Senior Walton player Dolmage
said they received stellar pitching
from Scott McDonald, who had five
strikeouts in the game.
“We received complete hitting
from the lineup one through nine,”
he said.
Tigers coach Murray Kellington
said the game was not one of the
team’s better outings.
He said Walton is a good team and
they received strong pitching.Kellington said the Tigers will be back in form for the nextgame.
Walton hosted the Exeter Braves
this past Tuesday. Game results
were not available at press time. The
Brewers host the Goderich Grizzlies
on Tuesday beginning at 8 p.m. at
the Walton ball park.
The Tigers were scheduled to play
the Fullarton A’s last Friday but the
game was postponed due to a slo-
pitch tournament and has been
rescheduled to Wednesday, Sept. 7,
beginning at 8:30 p.m. Brussels
plays host to the Sebringville
Juniors on Friday, beginning at 8:30
p.m. at the Optimist ball park in
Brussels.

Blyth trumps Exeter in HCFL
Dana Doherty hit a lead off
homerun in the bottom of the fifth
inning last Friday evening as the
Blyth Barons went on to score five
runs in the inning defeating the
Exeter Braves by a score of 9-2 in a
Huron County Fastball League
contest played at the Blyth ball park.
Dean Wheeler went the distance
on the mound for the Barons to post
the win.
Doherty added a single to go along
with his homerun. Darcey Cook had
a triple and single with Mike Kerr
connecting for a triple. Shawn
Bromley added a pair of doubles to
the offence. Mike McDonald and
Adam Cronin each rapped out a
single.
Veteran Blyth player Mike
McDonald said they received clutch
hitting from Dana Doherty. Doherty
and Kerr each had three RBIs.
“We received awesome pitching
from Dean Wheeler,” he said.
Next game for the Barons is
Sunday when they travel to Fullarton
for a 7 p.m. contest against the A’s.

CHARGES BY-LAW
The Township of North Huron is holding a Public Meeting to discuss a
proposed Development Charges By-Law. This By-Law will set out new
development charges rates and the manner in which they will be collected. The
meeting will be held on:

Copies of the proposed By-Law and the supporting Background Study will be
available for review at the Municipal Office beginning on August 24, 2011.

By-Law.
