Harold Bragg of Point Clark
passed away in Kincardine on July
25, 2011. He was 79.
Harold was the beloved husband
of Anne Bragg (Voynich).
Harold was born on April 12, 1932
in Paris, Ontario to the late Jessie
Raycraft and Harold Bragg.
Harold grew up in Paris where he
farmed and raised his family in
Brant County. He was a gifted
woodworker and tinsmith and will
be remembered for his bright smile.
He was the dear father of Roger
Bragg of Dorchester, New
Brunswick, Laurie Barnhardt (Leo
Burns) of Elora, Alan (Barbara)
Bragg of Point Clark, Paul Bragg of
Dorchester, New Brunswick and
Christine (Robb) Heagle of Stirling.
He will be missed by his 11
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren. He is survived by his
sister Beatrice McChesney of Paris
and sister-in-law Gertrude
(Lawrence) Atkinson of Cambridge.
Visitation was held on Thursday,
July 28 at MacKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Home, Lucknow. The
funeral was conducted on Friday,
July 29 at 11 a.m. at the funeral
home chapel. Interment was in Paris
Cemetery.

THE REVEREND CATHRINE
ELAINE CAMPBELL
The Reverend Cathrine Elaine
Campbell of Brussels passed away
peacefully on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011
at Seaforth Community Hospital.
Born in Markdale on July 13, 1943,
Cathrine was in her 69th year.
Cathrine will be sadly missed by
her sisters Sheilagh Campbell of
Brampton and Sheana Campbell and
her husband David Blaney and their
children Eachunn and Kieran of
Brussels. Cathrine was a dear sister-
in-law to Bill Adcock and his wife
Lena and his son Alexander of
Mississauga. She was also loved by
her dear friends Ritchie Linton and
Denise Ursel and she was
predeceased by her brother Donald,
her sister Heather Adcock and her
parents Alexander and Ella.
Cathrine’s life was celebrated
from Melville Presbyterian Church,
Brussels on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 2
p.m. officiated by the Reverend
Susan Moore with Mrs. Carol Carter
as organist. Following Huron-Perth
Presbytery and Cathrine’s family
processing into the sanctuary,
Corporal Andrew Cunningham C.D.
of the Loren Scots Regiment piped
Flowers in the Forest. A musical
tribute of Flying Free was
performed by the Melville Trio,
consisting of pianist Matthew
Cardiff, vocalist Elli Schimanski
and flutist Ami Schimanski.
Cathrine was remembered that
day by her friend Bob Callahan, the
former MPP of Brampton South,
who reminisced about Cathrine’s
time before coming to Brussels. Bill
King then spoke of Cathrine,
remembering her time as the
minister of Melville and Knox
Presbyterian Churches and as a
valued member of the Brussels
community. The homily was then
given by the Reverend Peggy
Kinsman who spoke of her
friendship as a colleague of
Cathrine, while the prayers of
thanksgiving and intercession were
given by the Reverend Catherine
Calkin.
Burial took place in Brussels
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ritchie
Linton, Bill Adcock, Bill King, Jeff
Cardiff, Jim Lee and Maurice
Douma.

ROY ARTHUR DURST
Roy Arthur Durst of 90
Greenwood Dr., Stratford passed
away unexpectedly, but peacefully,
at his residence on Tuesday, Aug. 2,
2011. He was 82. He was born in
Wroxeter, the son of the late Irwin
Durst and the former Albertine
Hammer.
Roy was an auto body mechanic
by trade and in 1973 became an auto
appraiser and retired from the Co-
operators Insurance Company in
Stratford in 1993. He was also an
active member of the Stratford Lawn
Bowling Club.
He was the beloved husband of
Ruth Marie Durst who predeceased
him on Jan. 4, 2011. Roy was the
loving father of Colleen Manning
(Cameron), London; Doug Durst
(Brenda), Walkerton; Mike Durst
(Marian), Clinton; Peter Durst
(Linda), Stittsville; and Lianne
Broughton (Rob), Waterdown.
He was the dear grandfather of
Claire, Martha and Emily Manning,
Jeremy Durst (Lana), Felicia Durst,
Jessica and Michelle Durst, Sarah
O’Grady (David), Mellisa Orvis
(Tim), Kevin Durst, Lauren and Eric
Broughton and the great-grandfather
of Jackson and Sophie Durst.
Roy was the brother of Mae Ebel,
Dorothy Collins and Joyce Badger
and brother-in-law of Gordon Parr,
Charlie and Marguerite Thomas, and
Joan Van Vliet.
Besides his parents, he was
predeceased by several brothers and
sisters.
Friends and relatives gathered at
the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430
Huron St., Stratford on Thursday,
Aug. 4. The funeral service was held
at Greenwood Court Chapel, 90
Greenwood Dr., Stratford on Aug. 5.

JEAN IDELL EVANS
Jean Idell Evans of Ethel died
peacefully at Listowel Memorial
Hospital on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in
her 71st year.
Jean was the beloved wife of
Doug and loving mother of Cindy
and her husband Paul Fallis of
Atwood, Bonnie and her husband
Steve Conners of Listowel and
Roger and his wife Andrea of
Burlington.
She was the dear nana of Evan,
Allie, Abi, Riley, Will and Cole. She
will be sadly missed by her mother-
in-law, Grace Evans, brothers and
sisters-in-law; Bev and Herb
Brenneman, Barb Consitt, Gary and
Sharon Evans, Brian and Karin
Evans, Pat and Barry Taylor, Jack
Fish and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her
parents James and Grace
(Kernaghan) McFarlane, her sister
Mary Lou Fish and brother-in-law
Tom Consitt. Jean will be missed by
the Ethel community where she was
an active member in the church. She
will be fondly remembered for her
sense of humour, her love of music
and her beautiful gardens.

the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141
John Street, Atwood Thursday, Aug.
4. The funeral service was held at
the Ethel United Church on Aug. 5.
Rev. Sandra Cable officiated.
Interment followed in Mount
Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel.

CHESTER HIGGINS
Chester Gordon Higgins of
Brussels passed away on
Wednesday, July 27 at Wingham and
District Hospital. Born in Morris
Township on March 13, 1927,
Chester was in his 85th year.
Chester was the beloved husband
of Wilda (Agar) Higgins and dear
father of Wayne Higgins and Greg
and his wife Betty Jane Higgins, all
of Morris Township. He was a
loving grandfather to Meagan,
Melissa, Mary Kate, Stuart, Loretta
and Maitland. He was a dear brother
to Robert and Julie Higgins of
Goderich.
He was predeceased by his son
Don, his brothers Jack and his wife
Bernice, George, and his parents
Gordon and Florence.
Friends were received by the
family one-and-a-half hours prior to
the funeral service conducted on
Saturday, July 30 at 2 p.m. from the
Schimanski Family Funeral Home,
Brussels. Rev. Elwin Garland
officiated.
Carrying floral tributes were
Chester’s granddaughters Meagan,
Melissa, Mary Kate and Loretta.
Pallbearers were Greg Higgins,
Stuart Higgins, Maitland Higgins,
Bruce Higgins, Terry Hays, Terry
Hoy and Don Procter.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.

MARJORIE PEARL
McKENZIE
Marjorie McKenzie of Wingham,
passed away at Wingham and
District Hospital on Wednesday,
July 27, 2011. She was 76.
The former Marjorie Wilkinson
was the beloved wife of the late
Captain John McKenzie who
predeceased her in 1999.
She was the dear mother of Terry
Salmon of Burgoyne, Eric and Laura
McKenzie of St. Catharines, Ken
and Cathy McKenzie of Wingham,
Mary Anne and Tom Thompson of
Kincardine, Catherine and Allan
Fischer of Mildmay, Robert and
Kim Watson-McKenzie of
Walkerton and Cheryl Stangen of
Wingham. She was also the loving
grandmother of 17 grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was the sister of Donna
Wilson of Kincardine and Sharon
and George Skinn of Wingham. She
was predeceased by her parents
Kenneth and Margaret (Mighton)
Wilkinson, sister Joan Wissler and
daughter-in-law Sharon McKenzie.
Visitation was held at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham July 28.
The funeral service was held at the
funeral home chapel July 29. Rev.
Jeff Hawkins officiated.
Interment was in Wingham
Cemetery, Wingham.

On Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at
Seaforth Community Hospital Mrs.
Florence (Williamson) Nesbitt of
Seaforth and formerly of Clinton
passed away in her 87th year.
Florence was the beloved wife of
the late George Nesbitt (1994) and
the loving mother of Linda Nesbitt
and husband Lloyd Good of
London, Brenda and husband Jim
Kitching of St. Marys, the late
Murray Nesbitt (2009) and wife
Connie of Blyth and Maurice
Nesbitt and wife Kathy of Shedden.
She was cherished by her 12
grandchildren, Mark, Scott, Jeff,
Cathy, Tim, Richard, Carla, Ann
Marie, Christine, Lee, Rae Lynn,
Jessica and by her 15 great-
grandchildren.
She was the dear sister and sister-
in-law of Olive Clarke, Evelyn
Carter, Ina McGrath, Bruce and
Eileen Barrie and Helen
Williamson.
Florence was predeceased by her
sister Olda and husband Russell and
brothers Herbert, Norman and wife
Evelyn and Roy and wife Kathleen.
Friends were received at the
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., 153
High St., Clinton on Wednesday.
The funeral service is Thursday,
Aug. 11 at 2 p.m. Rev Leslie Searles
will officiate. Interment is in Blyth
Union Cemetery.

Former Huron County Warden
Kenneth John Oke passed away at
South Huron Hospital, Exeter on
Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011. He was in
his 64th year.
Ken was the beloved husband of
Susan (Charlton) Oke, dear father of
Mary-Lynn Oke and her fiancé
Craig Roskos of Winnipeg, Steven
and Andrea Oke of London and
David Oke and his fiancée Cindy
Wilkinson of South Huron and the
dear grandfather of Kaleb Oke.
He was the dear brother of Ron
and Marlene Oke of Kitchener,
Kathryn and Earl Keller of Exeter
and Dianne and Tony Ervine of
Adelaide, Australia and the dear
son-in-law of Arnold and Betty
Charlton, both of Strathroy.
He was predeceased by his parents
Ross and Emma Oke.
Visitation was held last Sunday at
the Haskett Funeral Home, 370
William Street, Exeter. There was a
Legion memorial service in the
funeral home on Sunday evening at
6:30 p.m.
The funeral service was held at the
Exeter United Church, 42 James
Street on Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. Dorothy
Henderson, minister of Caven
Presbyterian Church officiated.
Interment was in Exeter Cemetery.
