McNeil’s Museum
Don McNeil, an exhibitor of the Normoska Auto Show and

Weather discussions continue
The hot days of summer continue,
some just hotter than others, and
some more enjoyable than others
too. As good Canadians we spend a
lot of time discussing the elements
and, all the while know there is
nothing we can do about it, but we
continue to talk weather and the
possibilities. So in the past month or
so we’ve had lots to discuss wind,
lack of rain, high temperatures and
humidity and so our days continue.
Three folks who were an
important part of our community
have died in the past weeks. Fond
thoughts of encounters with each of
them surface as we think about the
circle of life and Chester Higgins,
Cathrine Campbell and Jean Evans.
Each of these fine people had an
effect on our area and so on each of
us. As the families grieve their loss
over the next while (lifetime), be
sure to tell them the stories of
Chester, Cathrine and Jean that
made an impact on you. It’s
important to learn how our loved
ones affected others’ lives and did
make a difference.
The wedding of Nicole White and
Mark Olson was celebrated on
Saturday at home with Donna and
Randy White looking after the
details with help from Ruth and Neil
Olson. The pretty pleased parents of
the newlyweds had cause for great
celebration and they did. All the
plans went well and I’m sure visionsof trees, flowers and wagons willstill enter a few minds, even now.Mr. Luke Alan Donald Chesher
came to Brussels to be baptized at
the church of his grandparents Dale
and Don on Sunday. Darron andSabina came from Calgary to markthis historic occasion with one finetoddler as well as sister Victoria who

A NOTE FROM BETTY

The Brussels Legion Branch held
the executive meeting for July on
Tuesday evening July 26. There
were only six Comrades in
attendance so informal discussion
was held on a variety of issues
before the executive. A motion to
pay the bills was approved. Items of
interest include the stopover of the
“Tour of Duty” group on Saturday,
Aug. 6. They planned to be at the
Branch about 1 p.m. Melody White
has been on holidays for the past
couple of weeks, so replacement
bartenders have been working.
The Branch fish fry crew was in
Blyth on Saturday to feed almost
200 in town for the “Bonanza”
weekend at the Blyth Festival plus
diners from the Blyth Legion
Branch. The crew included
Comrades Glenn Bridge, George
Adams, Norm Dobson, Ron
Schmidt, Andy Overholt and friend
Jeremy Bloemberg. They did a fine
job and thanks to Jeremy for helping
out.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
had nine-and-a-half tables at play
and was held upstairs for the day.
Marg Bennett filled in for the absent
