Soccer showdown
Athletes from around the area converged on Auburn’s
Huron Chapel Missionary Church for a soccer camp last
week. Youth had the chance to hone their skills and play
“soccer-fied” versions of well known games, like a game of
Castles, shown here, played with soccer balls and kicking
instead of flags. (Denny Scott photo)
By Reba JeffersonThe fifth and sixth meetings of the
Wawanosh 4-H Health Fanatics
were held on July 21 at 6:45 p.m. at
the Jeffersons’ home. Junior leader
Reba Jefferson led a game of
Balloon Stomp while members were
arriving. President Sophie Jefferson
then opened with the pledge and led

types of wounds they have had
before. Most common answers werecut and bruises with a few sprains
and broken limbs. Reba then

Residents should be aware of a
computer telephone scam, as a few
locals have received calls from a
company called “PC Care”. The
caller claims to be able to fix
computer problems by gaining
remote access to your computer and
then asks for payment for service.
The caller has a thick accent and can
be somewhat pushy. If you receive
one of these phone calls, hang up
immediately. Do not give the caller
any personal information such as
credit card or banking information,
or any information that would allow
the caller access to your computer.
Our newest villagers will be tying
the knot in a few short weeks.
Anyone interested in contributing
towards a gift for Ryan McClinchey
and Stacey Baker who are being
married on Aug. 6 can leave
donations at the Auburn Post Office.
A box has been placed on the
counter there with a card to sign as
well.
The Moss family spent last week
in Port Loring doing some cottaging
and some fishing. Good pickerel and
bass along with the odd pike and a
huge dogfish. It was a great week
away with temperatures similar to
those at home. Sadly, the grass was
not magically cut while they were
away, so if you hear a lawn mower
at some point after the sun goes
down and it actually cools off
enough to cut the grass, you know
who it is.
