applications the municipality
receives each year.
Ginn, however, stated that while
previous councils had gone through
the grant applications and “cherry-
picked” that was a process that had
been halted. The applications now
go through Brenda MacIsaac, the
municipality’s clerk.
“It’s not an easy job,” Ginn said.
A report will be prepared and
council will make an official
decision on the potential changes to
the grant process later this year.
The grant budget was approved by
council in the amount of $26,657.10
with councillors Burkhard Metzger,

Brussels man faces jail time for probation breachJason Hutchings of Brussels will
serve 30 days in jail as a result of a
failure to comply with the terms of
his probation earlier this year.
Judge R.G.E. Hunter found
Hutchings guilty in Wingham courton July 14 and sentenced him to acontinuous 30 days in jail.It was Hunter who had initially
made the probation order that
Hutchings broke. The order, made in
October, 2010, was the result of a
criminal harassment charge.
Crown Attorney Bob Morris statedthat Hutchings attended the home ofhis ex-girlfriend shortly aftermidnight on February 7, knocking
on her rear patio door and pleading
with her to let him into the home.
The victim refused to let
Hutchings into the home and
eventually went out the front door to
someone else’s house. The victim
then returned at approximately 4
a.m., Morris said, to see blood
smeared on the patio door.
Hutchings then sent the victim a
picture of his bloody wrist.
Morris stated that the Canadian
Mental Health Association was
involved with the case and was in the
process of setting up counselling
appointments with Hutchings oncehe has served his time.Hunter sentenced Hutchings to 30days in jail and also handed down
two years probation as well as a no
contact order between him and the
victim. Hutchings is not allowed to
come within 25 metres of the
victim’s residence.
ASSAULT
Allan Cunningham, now of
Georgetown, formerly of RR5,
Wingham, pled guilty to an assault
charge stemming from an incident
on August 31, 2010.
Morris said the police were called
to the Cunninghams’ residence on
Currie Line at approximately 10:40
p.m. that night where an altercation
was taking place betweenCunningham and his wife of 10years.Morris stated that an argument had
taken place where the couple was “in
each other’s faces” and eventually
Cunningham’s wife pushed him
away when he got too close. He then
grabbed his wife, which resulted in
some bruising to her arm.
Cunningham was given a
suspended sentence and 12 months
of probation, which will be
transferred to Georgetown.
The sentence corresponded with
the joint submission from both
Morris and Cunningham’s defense
attorney.

the dinner and reception. Guests
were asked to sign their names upon
arriving and during the dinner names
were drawn. That couple then had to
demonstrate how to kiss and the
newlyweds had to imitate them. It
was a very entertaining evening. The
couple has bought a home outside of
Seaforth. Congratulations Katie and
Darren.
Congratulations to Curtis Meyers
on his marriage to Jenna Fraser last
Saturday. Curtis is the son of Bill
and Susan Meyers and the grandson
of George and Pat Langlois. The
wedding was held in Goderich and
the dinner and reception was held in
the backyard and home of Bill and
Susan in Clinton. The wedding party
attendants wore lovely pale yellow
chiffon dresses that were accented
by the groomsmen’s grey suits. Hues
of yellow and grey, florals, lanterns
and shrubbery decorated the
beautiful tent. Grandpa George
provided his famous wine for all the
dinner guests. Grandma Pat was
invited to speak and reports are that
she had a wonderful speech that all
enjoyed. Who would believe that Pat
could talk? A roll of the giant dice
was used to decide who would kiss
who, when the guests wanted the
couple to kiss and it was quite fun.
The couple welcomed guests from
the Muskokas, the east coast and
even Scotland for their special day.
The evening finished off with many
of the fully clothed groomsmen
ending up in the pool which was
very reminiscent of the night Bill
and Susan were married. Many of
the guests returned Sunday for
brunch and gift opening. The happy
couple were heading to the east
coast for a honeymoon and will be
living in their home in Clinton.
Congratulations to Curtis and Jenna.
A celebration was at Brodhagen
Hall on Saturday evening to
celebrate the marriage of Anita
Kreutzwiser, who is the daughter of
George and Mary Kreutzwiser,
Walton. Anita and her new husband
Neil, were married in May in the
west. They travelled to Ontario and a
party was planned. A great crowd of
family, friends and neighbours
enjoyed the get-together to wish the
happy couple all the best. The

Saskatchewan. Congratulations
Anita and Neil.

Wind company feels
unwelcome at group
Chuck Edey, president of Leader
Resources, will no longer send
representation to the Inter Municipal
Turbine Working Group meetings,
reported Huron East’s Rob Tetu.
Tetu, speaking to Huron East
councillors at their July 5 meeting,
said Edey sent a letter to chairman
of Wind Concerns Ontario Mark
Davis stating it was clear that
Leader Resources was not welcome
at the meetings.
“We have come to the conclusion
that our attendance is not wanted at
the meetings,” Edey’s letter read.
Edey’s letter went on to say the
decision was made “after months of
being harassed, insulted and
categorically dismissed by the
group.”
Tetu said Edey’s letter was not
addressed just to Davis and the
group, but to “essentially every
politician in Ontario.”
Tetu said he couldn’t agree with
Edey, saying that he had not been
witness to any ill will towards
Leader Resources or its
representatives at any of the
meetings.
