NEWS
FROM BRUSSELS
A dream of the late Henry Exel is
about to come true. Brussels will be
the site of the seventh Habitat for
Humanity Huron County (HFHHC)
build. Henry had served on the
Habitat Board of Directors for four
years and had been instrumental in
the affiliate’s second build in
Wingham in 2006. He was to lead
the build in Brussels but his tragic
accident on Oct. 31, 2010 has
transferred the responsibility to his
community and his many friends
who want to see his dream come
true.
Habitat for Humanity is a faith-
based non-profit organization
founded in 1976 in the U.S.A. Now
in over 90 countries, it has built
and/or refurbished over 400,000
homes and assisted over two million
people. In Canada, since 1985 and
with 72 affiliates including HFHHC,
almost 2,000 homes have been built
and/or refurbished. Habitat for
Humanity Canada has assisted in
many international builds as well.
The Huron County affiliate was
started in 2005. It has served Huron
County well, building homes in
Clinton, Wingham, Goderich,
Hensall, Exeter, Seaforth and now
Brussels. The mission of HFHHC is
to help eliminate poverty housing in
Huron County by providing
