Gerrit Boven went to be with his
Lord, peacefully on Monday, June
20, 2011. A much loved husband,
father, grandfather and great-
grandfather, Gerritt was born on
Sept. 25, 1931 in Winschoten,
Netherlands and came to Canada
with his family in 1958.
He was the loving husband of Nel
Boven and the dear father and
father-in-law of Joanne and Norman
Heimpel of Seaforth, Karl and Anita
Boven of Auburn, Peter and Marissa
Boven of Toronto and Elizabeth and
Oscar Van Den Assem of Watford.
Gerrit will be lovingly
remembered by 13 grandchildren
and one great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the
Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd., Blyth
Visitation Centre, 407 Queen Street,
Blyth on June 22 from 2 - 4 p.m. and
7 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at
Blyth Christian Reformed Church
on June 23 at 2 p.m. Pastor Jack
Quartel officiated. Interment was inBlyth Union Cemetery.As expressions of sympathy, the
family would appreciate memorial
donations to the Parkinson Society.
PEARL SHAW
Pearl (Carnochan) Shaw of
Brussels passed away peacefully at
the Fordwich Village Nursing Home
on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Born in
Grey Township on Oct. 4, 1911,
Pearl was in her 100th year.
Pearl was the beloved wife of the
late Alex Shaw who predeceased her
on Dec. 26, 1980.
She was the dear mother of
Harvey and Betty Shaw of Brussels,
Jim and Frances Shaw of Bluevale,
Dorothy Thompson of Bluevale and
Edith and John Pipe of Brussels. She
is also loved by her daughter-in-law
Carol Shaw of Bluevale, 14
grandchildren, 29 great-
grandchildren and five great-great-
grandchildren.
Pearl was predeceased by her son
Jack, her granddaughter Donna
Thompson, her grandson Neil Pipe
and her son-in-law Jim Thompson.
Friends were received by the
family 90 minutes prior to thefuneral service conducted at theSchimanski Family Funeral Home
on Friday, June 24 at 2 p.m.
officiated by Rev. Cathrine
Campbell.
Remembrances of Pearl were
given by her son Harvey, grandson
Gary Pipe and great-granddaughter
Kristen Pipe. Carrying floral tributes
were Gary Pipe and David Shaw.
Pallbearers were Barry Shaw, Ken
Thompson, Paul Shaw, Murray Pipe,
Bryan Shaw and Doug Shaw.
Interment is in Brussels Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Melville Presbyterian Church.

TERESSA MAUDE TAYLOR
Teressa Taylor of Turnberry
Estates, passed away at Wingham
and District Hospital on Wednesday,
June 22, 2011. She was 71.
The former Teressa Cassidy was
the beloved wife of Larry Taylor, the
dear mother of Shawn (Sheri) of
Stoney Creek, Stacey (Rita) of
Hamilton, Shannon (Doug) ofBrantford and Steve of Hamilton.and the loving nana of Keira Lee and
Sydney.
She was the sister of Reg (Eileen),
Donna (Roy), Gloria (Bill) and Fred
(Lil) and the sister-in-law of Diane.
Teressa is also survived by several
nieces and nephews and great-nieces
and great-nephews. She was a dear
friend of the Small and Nesbitt
families.
In keeping with Teressa’s wishes,there will be no visitation.Arrangements were entrusted to
McBurney Funeral Home,
Wingham.
Memorial donations to the
Canadian Diabetes Association or
the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Ontario would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.

laughter and food made for a
pleasant evening at the Legion, as
memories were shared.
A pretty wee girl was baptized on
Sunday morning as her admiring
brothers looked on protectively. Lia,
daughter of Kelly and Nick Marshall
seemed to enjoy the moment and
was looking her best for proud
Poppa Jack with his camera.
Grandma Sue Overholt just sat back
and proudly watched all five of her
grandbabies.
Hopefully you have The Citizen in
hand, after trying to catch up with it
for the last couple of weeks with the
postal strike. You just never know
what’s going to happen in life and
isn’t that a good thing.
Get ready the kids are out of school
and ready for summer, so do your
part, you know what they like to do.
