Horticultural Society plans
‘Village Pumpkin Party’
The Auburn Horticultural Society
met on Wednesday, June 14 at the
home of Karen Redmond. This was
a collaborative meeting between the
Horticultural Society and the
Auburn Playground Committee in
order to plan upcoming community
events.
The Horticultural Society asks that
residents “save the date” for October
29. The group is planning a “Village
Pumpkin Party” at the Auburn
Community Centre, which will be a
fun day filled with county fair style
competition and pumpkin carving
for all ages.
Flyers will be circulated in the
upcoming weeks with the details
regarding exhibits and contests. The
afternoon will end with a
community potluck dinner – which
everyone will remember was a huge
success this past Christmas (during
one of the first snowstorms of the
season). For those who have
Facebook, Karen Redmond has
started a group for the Pumpkin
Party. Watch for posters in the post
office as well as the flyers in your
mailbox – we hope to give Cathy
something to do while the postal
strike is on.
Everyone will notice that John
Street/John’s Avenue has recently
seen a bit of a facelift. The
boulevards have been fixed and
seeded thanks to Verbeek’s Garden
Centre of Clinton. Please stay off the
seed.
