9:30 am - noonGr. 8 class returns from trip
By Carlene Bremner,
Isaac Nicholson and Eric Steele
The Grade 8 class had a
marvelous time at Camp Celtic. The
weather was great, the activities
were fun (even The Georgian Bay
swim) and some students really
impressed Mrs. Armstrong with
their climbing abilities. Students
made many new friends and learned
a number of new songs at the
campfire.
In addition to the songs students
learned were the great camp graces.
In fact, they enjoyed those graces so
much they even gave thanks before
they ate at McDonald’s on the way
home.
This week at Blyth Public School
students had the pleasure of having
the author Sharon Jennings give a
presentation to Grades 4-8. Sharon
has written a number of books. She
has ghostwritten 43 Franklin books
as well as over 30 of her own books
including Home Free and
C’mere Boy (both Silver Birch
nominees).
On Tuesday students went to the
regional track and field in Clinton.
The students trained after school for
this event. Winners at this event will
carry on to the district track and
field meet on June 14.
Special thanks to Ms Badham and
others who worked with the
students.
Also on Tuesday students had a
playday for the primary classes.
Students had a great deal of fun and
would like to thank Mrs. Roe and
Mrs. Zembashi for organizing this
event.
On June 8, Grades 5-8 went to
Portrait of Honour at the North
Huron Wescast Community
Complex to see the giant 10'x50" oil
painted mural featuring the
handpainted portraits of the 155
Canadian soldiers, sailors and
aircrew who have lost their lives
serving our country. This event was
hosted by local Kinsmen clubs who
also paid for the busing so students
could participate.
Last week Grade 6 students wrote
EQAO and this week Grade 3
students are doing the same.
Just a reminder to all that the
Festival of Arts will be June 21 at 7
p.m.
The school’s last virtues assembly
will be June 13 at 9 a.m.
Last, but not least, this week the
kindergarten class, along with
students from Grade 1 to 7 will have
their year-end trip.
Walking along the Narrow Way
(Arthur Pink, “The Narrow Way”)
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to
destruction — and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the way that
leads to life — and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
Walking along the Narrow Way, means for the heart and life to be constantly regulated
by Christ’s holy teaching. It denotes a steady perseverance in faith and obedience to the
Lord Jesus; overcoming all opposition, rejecting every temptation to forsake the path of
fidelity to Him. It is called the “Narrow Way” because all self-pleasing and self-seeking
is shut out.
It is right here that the testing point is reached. Unto the natural man, it is much easier
and far more pleasant — to indulge the flesh and follow our worldly propensities. The
Broad Road, where the flesh is indulged — is easy, smooth, and attractive! But it ends
in “destruction!” Though the “Narrow Way” leads to eternal life — but only FEW tread
it. (To be continued next week)
A Grace Gem

Former North Huron Councillor,
Blyth native and long-time local
Liberal Greg McClinchey has been
selected as the new President of the
Huron-Bruce (Federal) Liberal
Association. McClinchey was
named to the position following the
departure of James Scongack.
“Liberals in every part of Canada
have a great deal of work to do and
I am very pleased to be part of that
effort in Huron and Bruce. I have
been a member ofo this Association
for 18 years and to be selected to
lead the group is both a tremendous
responsibility and a privilege. Our
team locally has planned a robust
agenda over the next several
months and years and we are
eager to get started,” McClinchey
said.
Following his installation,
McClinchey said, “While we are
understandably sad to see James
[Scongack] take his leave from the
president’s chair, we have been
lucky to have had the benefit of his
skills and guidance around the
table. And while he will be missed,
our party has a strong base of
support and an extensive
membership on which to draw …
key elements that can only
strengthen Liberal efforts as we
work to continue to hold the
Conservatives to account as they set
out to govern over the next four
years.”
The next federal election is
expected in the fall of 2015.
