Festival, United Church to hostJapanese Relief effort eventThe Blyth Festival along with the

Cross support work for Japanese
Relief Efforts on June 10 at 7 p.m. at
the Blyth Memorial Hall.
Complimentary refreshments will

On March 11 Japan was hit by one
of the largest earthquakes ever
recorded. The quake spawned a
deadly tsunami that slammed into
the small island nation, leaving a
huge swath of devastation in its
wake. Thousands of people are dead
and many more are still missing or
injured; almost half a million people
are homeless. Japan has often
donated when other countries have
experienced disasters, such as when
Hurricane Katrina impacted the U.S.
The Blyth Festival is collaborating
with local community members and
schools to create an evening
showcasing local talent. The night
will include performances by
students from the Blyth Public
School, F.E. Madill Secondary
School (Wingham), David
Archibald performing music from
the Blyth Festival’s play Hometown,
Cappy Onn’s Violin School and the
Blyth Community Choir. This event
is free admission with donations
greatly appreciated.
