play in the Community Centre on
Friday, May 27. The winners were:
high pink card, Marie Stewart; sec-
ond high pink card, Lillian Appleby;
most shoots, Edna McLellan; high
white card, Ken Spears; second high
white card, Ron Taylor; most shoots,
John Pollard.
The next shoot is Friday, June
10 at 1:30 p.m. Everyone is wel-
come.
Former members of the Belgrave
Women’s Institute are invited to
attend the 100th anniversary celebra-
tion of the Belgrave WI on Tuesday,
June 7 at 2 p.m. in the Belgrave
Community Centre.

Girl’s Night Out
Spencer Vail, Executive Chef at the Benmiller Inn and Spa,
was on hand for Girls Night Out at F.E. Madill Secondary
School to ply his trade on May 27. The event focused on all
things feminine with the proceeds going to the Madill DD

high pink at shoot tables
The general meeting of theBelgrave United Church Womenwas held in the church basement onThursday, May 26 with a good num-ber of men and women present. PatHunking opened the meeting with apoem, “The Power of One”.Members recited the UCW Purpose.Nancy Folkard gave the call toworship and prayer and JoyceVincent read the scripture. Nancy’s
meditation was, “How long does it
take to be Holy?” References were
made to how long it takes for a pearl
to be finished, as referred to in the
scripture as a “Pearl of Great Price”.
Joyce made reference to how long it
takes people to be Holy and that peo-
ple have to Learn God’s love and
through prayer, meditation and
nature we can take the time to be
Holy.
Beryl MacGowan sang two solos,
“Amazing Grace” and “Precious
Lord” with Donna Shaw at the
piano.
Muriel Coultes introduced Bill
and Audrey Stephenson of Wingham
who had taken a trip to the Holy
Land in 2010. Bill’s commentary
and pictures took everyone on a
journey from Turkey to Ephesus and
to the Greek Island of Patmos where
John wrote the book of Revelations.
Other places included Joppa where
the Cedars of Lebannon were
unloaded; to the Sea of Galilee and
the Syrian Border. Members saw
pictures of where Jesus was baptized
in the River Jordan, and Nazareth
where Jesus spent his childhood.
Members travelled down the Via del
la Rosa to the Mount of Olives andKing David’s tomb; to the Garden ofGethsemane; the Wailing Wall and atomb similar to the tomb of Jesus.Nancy Folkard thanked Bill for thewonderful tour he had given us.A social time followed his presen-tation and many talked to them moreabout their trip. Elly Dow and BettyRoss provided the refreshments.During the business portion of the
meeting, the UCW Huron-Perth
Camp Day was announced for
Monday, June 6 at Camp
Menesetung and the London
Conference Summer event for
Saturday, July 16 in London. The
Community Club will have its
potluck dinner on Friday, June 3 at
12 p.m. in the Belgrave Community
Centre. Everyone welcome.
It was agreed that the UCW would
send $50 as an extra donation to
M&S to help the National UCW
reach its goal of $50,000 for their
50th anniversary of United Church
Women. We also agreed to send a
donation to the Children’s Aid
Society to help send children toCamp Menesetung this summer. Themeeting closed with the UCWBenediction.UCW Camp Day held on June 6

volunteer artist Dave Sopha over
6,500 hours so far to paint but
admits that his work won’t be com-
plete until the combat mission in
Afghanistan comes to a close.
The mural will be toured across
Canada in a specialized mobile dis-
play trailer which started on May 27
and organizers expect to raise over
$1.5 million. The funds raised will
support the Military Families Fund
and established military charities to
assist families of the fallen and to
assist the thousands of military per-
sonnel who return home with physi-
cal or emotional injuries. Organizers
will also seek to fund other charities
who offer additional troop and fam-
ily support that falls outside of the
Military Families Fund mandate.
Kin Canada is Canada’s oldest all-
Canadian service organization made
up of men and women serving their
communities from coast to coast.
With a 90-year history Kin has
raised well over $1 billion since its
inception in 1920.
One hundred and fifty-five dona-
tion boxes will be distributed to 155
businesses within the town of
Wingham and the surrounding vil-
lages of Teeswater, Belgrave,
Lucknow, Blyth and Brussels.
