Brussels Fall Fair kicked off
Well the United Church crowd is
flying high on several fronts. The
annual conference was held in Sault
Ste. Marie on the weekend and the
highlight for our area was having
Rev. Gary Clark of Blyth sworn in as
president. To make it even better the
congregation of Blyth United was
there thanks to modern methods of
communication. They watched the
conference worship service and read
and sang for the folks in Sault Ste.
Marie. We often see miracles that
the rest of the world doesn’t and for
me hearing and seeing Jordan
Button and friends read to us from
hundreds of miles away to show
Gary love and support, yes my
miracle. Thanks Steve Hern for
sharing your technical skills with the
United Church of Canada.
Work, singing and playing are all
part of any gathering and when you
get to do it with over 300 people, it’s
certainly fun. To come away from a
business meeting feeling positive
and hopeful for the church was well
worth the long bus ride.
As we all know, the old passes
away and new growth arrives, aschurch leaders we are in an excitingtime waiting for God to show us ourwork ahead. For all the churcheswho had ministers at Conference a
service was prepared by Rev. Maya
Landall so in Brussels, the choir and
friends offered their skills to lead
worship. Ava McCutcheon danced
and everyone celebrated the joys in
their life.
The Brussels Agricultural
Society’s event on Friday night was
a success. A gathering to announce
the celebration of 150 years of fairs
was offered with the theme
“Reflections of our Past – Spotlight
on the Future”. Listowel Theatre
311 offered its skills and centered itsplay on memories. Trish Barbourand company had the food well inhand offering treats that saidcelebrate. A good time was had by
all.

busy spot on the weekend, treasures

It has been a busy week at the
