The ladies’ slo-pitch game had to be cancelled due to the large lake right field and the muddy infield. The Walton Brewers home games are usually Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m. and the ladies play Thursday evenings. Come out and watch some games. The ball park is ready for action with members of the Brewers ball team working hard to get it in shape. The washrooms and meeting room have been cleaned and supplies for the diamond brought in. Hopefully, it will be a good summer for ball. There was a huge crowd at the buck and doe for Devin Blake and fiancée Sarah Van Loon on Saturday evening. The event was held at the Seaforth Agriplex for the couple. It was a great evening for them and they will be wed in early August. Celebrating birthdays this past week include Gerald Ryan, Valerie Shortreed, Hailey Bachert, Alexandra Humphries, Abby McGavin, Jessica Pennington, Darrell Dalton, Mary Pennington, Teegan McGavin, Phyllis Mitchell, Kaleb Wilts, Sharon Dalton, Howard Hackwell, Scott McDonald, David Perrie, Deanna Searle, Rod Fritz and Steve Steinman. Happy birthday to all. “Lake” in field causes delay M-T prepares to go paperless If all goes well Morris-Turnberry councillors will be reading their council packages off computer screens at their next meeting, June 7. Nancy Michie, adminstrator, clerk-treasurer, told council at the May 17 meeting that she hopes to provide training sessions for councillors by the end of May. She expected to visit South Huronon May 18 to see how their paperless system worked. Michie had two quotes for six computers (Mayor Paul Gowing will use his county-supplied computer), with an estimated cost of under $5,000. Council asked her to seek a quote from another supplier that actually operates in the municipality. As well as the computers, a carrying case will be purchased foreach of the councillors to protecttheir computers. If everything doesn’t come together in time it might be the June 21 meeting before the paperless agenda is put into place. Gowing said he didn’t think councillors, some of whom aren’t too familiar with computers, would object if it took longer to implement the system.
