PAGE 15.This and That Liquidation opens on Blyth’s main street Blyth resident Tara Fleming thinks her new store, and new stores in general, are just what Blyth needs to keep its downtown thriving. Fleming, who recently opened This and That Liquidation in the business section of Blyth’s Queen Street, said that her business offers a little something for everyone, and that’s what shoppers need. “We need new business [in Blyth],” she said. “We offer something for all our customers, and that’s what we need to keep people here and not driving to larger places.” The store, which opened on April 5, offers all new stock and carries a little bit of everything. “We sell this and that,” Fleming said with a laugh. “We try to get everything, and we have things like toys, household items, and some small furniture [that we try to pre- assemble].” While Fleming plans on having new stock delivered at least once a month, her first weeks of business have gone well, and she’s already ordering in new items. “We’ve had a really good reaction in the community,” she said. “[Customers have] had a lot ofpositive responses.”For future stocking, she says she’s open to suggestions. “I’m open to product suggestions and ideas,” she said. “If we don’t have something, we can try to get it.” One unique item that the store is stocking is Watkins products. “We’re selling Watkins products for [an agent of the company],” she said, pointing to Watkins cleaning and food items, adding that she has been told the company has a long history with rural areas.The store will soon have debit as aform of payment, and has delivery available. Fleming said she is planning on having a formal event early in May. “We’ll be looking at a grand opening on Saturday, May 7,” she said. “We’ll have coffee and cookies and for every mom-related purchase, we’ll give a free carnation.” Residents of Blyth may know Fleming from her other job as a part-time mail delivery person. By Denny ScottThe Citizen This and That Tara Fleming stands beside some of the stock she still has after a successful opening week for her store This and That Liquidation. The store, located on Blyth’s main street, features a plethora of goods intended to attract customers from all walks. (Denny Scott photo) Blyth JK study dinos Continued from page 3 This week the junior kindergarten students concentrated on the letters “N” and “O” along with studying dinosaurs, in particular, the Stegosaurus, who was a herbivore that walked on all four feet and had many plates on his back. They made Stegosaurus nameplates and sang songs about him. They continued to play games and complete mathematical exercises surrounding numbers from zero to five. The senior kindergarten class continued work on its unit on time. They surveyed the class to learn their favourite season and graphed the results. They classified daily activities into two categories of either day or night. In preparation for Easter, they read the traditional stories of The Velveteen Rabbit and Beatrix Potter’s The Tale of Peter Rabbit. The seniors took part in Professional Learning Math Groupings and were instructed in small groups concerning numbers and near numbers to 10. We goofed On the front page of the April 21 issue of The Citizen, taxes were listed as rising by 3.5 per cent in North Huron. It is the 2011 general budget that is up 3.5 per cent from the 2010 budget, not taxes. As it was accurately listed in the story, taxes will be rising (on average) 2.09 per cent in Blyth, 3.77 per cent in East Wawanosh and 2.23 per cent in Wingham. The Citizen apologizes for any confusion this may have caused. Clark says focus on green leaves not brown edges Continued from page 3 The children were invited to come to the front for their story time. Rev. Clark asked the children what day Sunday was? Many answers were Easter. He then asked them what Easter was all about. Answers were, “It is about Jesus dying and rising from the dead”. Rising from the dead is hard to imagine. Rev. Clark brought a banana plant to explain to the children that there was new life in the plant although the leaves were brown on the edges. We often focus on the brown spots in our lives, the unhealthy things in our lives. Easter is like new life, it brings us happiness and helps us forget the bad things that happen to us. The children went downstairs for their time of fellowship. Candice Abel-Rinn carried the Christ candle downstairs after saying a prayer along with the congregation. The congregation listened to an Easter message from the moderator in the Holy Land. Rev. Clark’s message to the adults was “What’s In Your Tomb?” Pain is not transformed but is transmitted. How did this change the disciples? The disciples did not understand the transforming of the pain. We have to be willing to change. Change is constant in our lives. We can change our future by knowing what we want to change in our lives. Rev. Clark asked everyone what they would change in their life. What is your tomb? Sadness is one thing we can change. Like the women at the tomb changed from sadness to happy knowing Jesus had risen. When the women came to the tomb, the Angel told them that Jesus had risen and they should go and tell the disciples that Jesus had risen. Jesus came to them on their way to tell the disciples and He told them to be not afraid and go tell His brothers that He would meet them in Galilee. We would like to have new life in our lives. Easter means New Life. The offering was received followed by the offering response, “Here, O Lord” and the prayer of dedication. The prayers of consecration and for the world and the singing of The Lord’s Prayer was followed by the serving of Communion. Those serving were Bryce Glousher, Lori Brooks, Doug Howson and Mary Lou Stewart. The last hymn, “Thine is the Glory” was followed by the commissioning, the benediction and the choral response “Thine is the Glory” the last verse. Everyone was invited for coffee and fellowship. /.-,+*** ***+,# */ ** 1961–2011 ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// *** *** *** ,,,,,,,, ,, ,,, ,,, , , , , ,,, ,, ,, , ,, , ,,,, ,,, , ,,,,, , , ,, ,, , ,,, , ,,, ,, ,,, ,,,, , , ,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,, ,, ,,,, ,, , ,, , ,, , ,,,,,,, ,, , ,,,,,,,,,, ,, ,, , ,, , , ,, ,, // / / // //// // ///// /// / // / / /// /// // // / /** * ** * **/// /// //////// ////// 0+'11*+1&)+ 0(10!
