Patchwork Party holds meetingThe fourth meeting of theWawanosh Patchwork Party washeld on April 4 at 7 p.m. at theJeffersons’ house. While themembers were waiting for everyone to arrive, they worked on a crossword that involved various quilting terms. Mary Ellen checked to see if everyone’s sample from the last meeting had been completed. The meeting officially started with the pledge and then jumped to roll call led by Reba Jefferson. Members were asked to bring a quilting article from home and they showed them off to the other members. Loretta then read the minutes from the previous meeting. The leaders went around and asked the members what their plan was for their final project. Some members were thinking about quilted pillows, blankets, bags or potholders. For meeting five membersare to go to a quilting expert theyknow and work on their finalproject. Members were asked who their “expert” was going to be and when they were going to meet them. Several members had already seen their expert while others had not decided on theirs. Melissa Higgins then read “What is Applique?” from the book. Following that, the leaders explained the steps to creating an appliquésample. Then members took the restof the meeting trying to completetheir sample with only a few nearcompletion by the end of the meeting. The members stopped their sewing for the night to eat cupcakes that Lara Nauwelaerts made. The cupcakes were designed to look like monsters. The meeting was closed with the motto “Learn to do by doing”. • Renovations • New Homes • Sales & Installation of Windows & Doors Call Ken 519-887-9857 Brussels, ON 519-526-7634 ~ Dave Werkema ADDITIONS • RENOVATIONS • GENERAL REPAIRS NEW HOMES C&P PORTABLE TOILETS Teeswater 1-800-834-4414 Ph: 519-392-8474 Fax: 519-392-6168 * Regular Units * Deluxe Units - sink / flush * Handwash Stations * Wedding / Special Event Units * Wheelchair/Infant Care Units * Comfort Station Trailer C&P - for people who are out and “going”! A generous veranda at the front of the home will make the perfect spot for watching the world go by of a summer evening, while the patio at the back will provide a spot for al fresco meals during fine weather. Entry is into a small foyer with a coat closet at the left. A half-wall to the right separates the foyer from the living room, where the cosy glow of a gas fireplace will make this room popular during the cooler months. The kitchen is located between the living and dining rooms, and features a window over the double sink, as well as a step-saving U- shaped counter configuration. The dining room includes sliding doors that open onto the back patio, as well as space for a built-in buffet.
