Blyth students place in science fair, basketball tourneyContinued from page 3made on the computers. The Grades2/3 students have swimming lessonscoming up on April 14, 21 and 28.This week, the kindergarten classcounted down the last days of
March. They have been keeping
track of the weather by placing a
lion or a lamb symbol on their
calendar to represent wet, cold or
wintery weather (the lion) or dry, cool and spring-like weather (thelamb). The senior kindergarten studentsconcentrated on the letters “G” and“O” this week. They made many
world-to-self connections between
what is happening in the world
during the seasons of spring and
summer and what people wear, do
and see within these seasons. The junior kindergarten studentsbegan their unit on dinosaurs. Theyspent the first week studying thelargest plant-eating dinosaur, theApatosaurus; the largest meat-eating
dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus Rex and
the smallest plant-eating dinosaur,
the Pterodactyl. They also focused
on the letters “i”, “y” and “k” and
numbers from zero to five. The science fair was held fromWednesday, March 30-31. In thejunior division, Courtney andNathan Bachert received a medal forsecond place overall and Ben
Stewart received a medal for runner-
up. In the senior division, Isaac
Nicholson and Phaedra Scott also
received a medal for second place.
Congratulations to those students. The annual Central HuronSecondary School feeder schoolbasketball tournament was held onThursday, March 31.
Both the girls and boys teams tied
for third place.
Good job everyone on your hard
work.

help will be welcome.
The Bikes for Humanity container
has arrived in the village of
Okatnana, Namibia and the
community is thrilled and want to
thank everyone who helped in any
way.
Braidon Abell-Rinn lit the candles
at the front of the church. The first
hymn was, “Throughout This
Lenten Days” followed by the
prayer of approach and invocation
repeated responsively, the singing of
the hymn, “O God We Call,” the
prayer of confession repeated in
unison and the singing of the
assurance of pardon. The children
were asked to come to the front for
their storytime.
The children brought the food for
the food bank to the front of the
church. Rev. Clark asked the
children if they knew what the
saying, “Sound as a Dollar” meant.
He explained to them that it was a
person who said one thing and
proceeded to do it was a person
sound as a dollar. A person who acts
out of kindness. They are people we
look up to like the police officer, a
firefighter, a coach and our parents.
The food they brought to the front
this morning is a kind and caring
thing that the congregation takes
part in. To bring food for those who
don’t have as much as we do.
The children, along with the
congregation, said a prayer. The
children went downstairs for their
time of fellowship. Candice Abell-
Rinn carried the Christ candle down
to Sunday School. The congregation
watched a video for the minute for
missions. The video was about the
rebuilding of Haiti and how they are
rebuilding a printing machine to
print supplies for the schools and
churches in Haiti.
The scripture was from John 9: 1-
41 read by David Onn. The choir
favoured the congregation with the
anthem, “Morning has Broken”.
Rev. Clark’s message to the adults
was “Sound as a Dollar”. If you are
a person that is sound as a dollar,
you are a person of value and can be
trusted. He told the story of a blind
boy who chatted with everyone he
met and seemed to know all about
them. In other words he was a blind
person who sees by listening to
others.
It seems easy to care for our
families but others need help. The
Japan nuclear fallout is on the other
side of the world but it has
affected the west coast of North
America.
We are often blind to see that
others need our help. Someone who
is depressed needs someone to talk
to and this may change their life.
Jesus tells us that we will see God if
we choose to see Him.
We offer our prayers for us and
others to God.
Our blindness is overcome by our
faith in God. Change is a part of
healing.
The Bible gives us many examples
of blind people seeing. We need to
change and changing brings healing.
Change is there if we choose to see
it. The next hymn, “All the Way My
Saviour Leads Me” was followed by
the receiving of the offering, the
offering response, the prayer of
dedication and the hymn, “O God
We Call”, the prayers for the world
and the singing of The Lord’s
Prayer.
The last hymn was “May the God
of Hope” was followed by the
commissioning, the benediction and
the choral response, “through These
Lenten Days” and the three-fold
Amen.
Everyone was invited for
coffee and cookies before going
home.
Bikes for Humanity container arrives in Namibia
By Mikenna Lane
St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary
School is back into the swing of
things since returning from March
Break.
On March 31 the Grade 10
students had butterflies in their
stomachs as they wrote the annual
literacy test. The literacy test is a
standardized test which all of the
Grade 10 students across Ontario
write. Students were well prepared
as all classes held a Literacy Blitz
earlier in the semester.
The day went smoothly and we are
proud of our Grade 10 students for
all of their efforts.
The St. Anne’s cherished group
called “God Squad” is challenging
students and the community to ask
themselves how much effort they are
putting into the community as they
ask: “Do I help others? Do I
volunteer at a food bank or kitchen?
Do I spend time with elderly
relatives or neighbours? Do I think
of others before myself?”
Everyone is encouraged to ‘Just do
it’ so that everyone, as one
community, makes our county a
better place. Speaking of one
community, all ladies aged 15-21 in
Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce
counties are invited to attend an all-
girls dance on Saturday, April 16
from 7:30 until 11:30 p.m. All funds
go towards building a girls high
school in Kenya.
