Continued from page 8the where and when and make anappropriate decision. New president
Mary Bernard saved her remarks for
the banquet.
Over 40 attended the curling

social was from 6 - 7 and the vast
array of delicious meal items were
ready for the 7 p.m. dinner.
Following the dinner, President

and flowers to Dona Knight and Jean
Bewley for getting things ready for
the evening, to Merv and Donna

of the curling season, Susan

carried out by President Murray,

A great honour
The Brussels Curling Club held its annual year-end banquet on Friday night at the Brussels,
Morris and Grey Community Centre and it was this team of, from left: second vice Jeff Cardiff,
vice Mary Ann Bernard and skip Steve Steiss that came away with first place in the evening’s
second draw and the D.A. Rann Trophy for the team with the season’s highest amount of points.
The award, presented by club president Murray Pepper, right, is named for D.A. “Ike” Rann, a
funeral director and avid curler in Brussels who retired in 1969, selling his business to Max
Watts. Ike’s son, who is also a curling enthusiast now prepares the awards, the wooden curling
rocks year after year at no cost to the club. Absent was team member Marsha Bietz. (Vicky Bremner
