There are so many people out there who do
so much to improve their community.
Now you have a chance to say thanks.
Nominate that special person for the 26th
Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards.
Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and area
and Brussels and area communities to receive an award for contribution to the
community. If you know someone you think should be honoured, please fill in the ballot
and send it in. You may attach a longer explanation of why you think your nominee
should win, if you like. If you have nominated someone before and he or she didn't win,

Blyth beats Stars,loses to Northstars
in Novice action
March 16 was the sixth and final
deciding game in a tough series for
the Blyth Novice Rep Team against
South Bruce Peninsula before
dropping two games against
Seaforth over the weekend.
It was a huge team effort with
Blyth taking the win by a score
of 4-2 to take the series with
plenty of Blyth fans cheering them
on.
Max Newson made some great
saves in the net in the final minutes
to help keep the lead.
Goals were scored by Tyler
Drennan, Dakota Coultes and
Mason Weber with assists going to
Drennan and Coultes.
The team continued their playoffs
with matches against Seaforth on
March 20 and 21.
The Stars beat the Bulldogs in two
close matches, 1-0 on Sunday and 2-
3 on Monday.
Tough loss
The Brussels Bantam Bulls ended their season with three
straight losses to the Sturgeon Lake Thunder in a best-of-
five series. They played their last game on March 19 at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre and lost 10-
2. (Denny Scott photo)
Grudge match
It’s a rivalry that could top The Habs and the Buds, but it’s slowly coming to a close. Blyth and
Brussels, neighbours off the ice and competitors on it, will soon be playing for the same
teams due to amalgamation. In one of the final matches of the great rivalry, the Brussels
Tykes doubled the Blyth Tyke 2 team 8-4 on March 19. (Denny Scott photo)
Last week Brussels played a
home-and-home series with
Palmerston and TCD. Brussels had
two wins and two losses which put
them in the final series with TCD.
On Saturday, Brussels travelled to
Keady and came home with a 4-0
loss to put the series up one in the
opposition team’s favour.
Brussels hosted TCD on Sunday
and after two scoreless periods,
Brussels finally put one past the
goalie for the only goal of the game
scored by Wade Machan and assisted
by Myles Johnston and Allison
Stevenson. A shutout went to Cole
Zwep.
The final game of the series will be
in Brussels on Saturday, March 26 at
11 a.m.
