Now you have a chance to say thanks. Nominate that special person for the 26th Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards. Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an award for contribution to the community. If you know someone you think should be honoured, please fill in the ballot and send it in. You may attach a longer explanation of why you think your nominee should win, if you like. If you have nominated someone before and he or she didn't win, please feel free to try again. Name and phone number of nominator ❑Blyth & area ❑Brussels & area Blyth beats Stars,loses to Northstars in Novice action March 16 was the sixth and final deciding game in a tough series for the Blyth Novice Rep Team against South Bruce Peninsula before dropping two games against Seaforth over the weekend. It was a huge team effort with Blyth taking the win by a score of 4-2 to take the series with plenty of Blyth fans cheering them on. Max Newson made some great saves in the net in the final minutes to help keep the lead. Goals were scored by Tyler Drennan, Dakota Coultes and Mason Weber with assists going to Drennan and Coultes. The team continued their playoffs with matches against Seaforth on March 20 and 21. The Stars beat the Bulldogs in two close matches, 1-0 on Sunday and 2- 3 on Monday. Tough loss The Brussels Bantam Bulls ended their season with three straight losses to the Sturgeon Lake Thunder in a best-of- five series. They played their last game on March 19 at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre and lost 10- 2. (Denny Scott photo) Grudge match It’s a rivalry that could top The Habs and the Buds, but it’s slowly coming to a close. Blyth and Brussels, neighbours off the ice and competitors on it, will soon be playing for the same teams due to amalgamation. In one of the final matches of the great rivalry, the Brussels Tykes doubled the Blyth Tyke 2 team 8-4 on March 19. (Denny Scott photo) Last week Brussels played a home-and-home series with Palmerston and TCD. Brussels had two wins and two losses which put them in the final series with TCD. On Saturday, Brussels travelled to Keady and came home with a 4-0 loss to put the series up one in the opposition team’s favour. Brussels hosted TCD on Sunday and after two scoreless periods, Brussels finally put one past the goalie for the only goal of the game scored by Wade Machan and assisted by Myles Johnston and Allison Stevenson. A shutout went to Cole Zwep. The final game of the series will be in Brussels on Saturday, March 26 at 11 a.m. Brussels novice series tied at one
