Brent Martin brought home the
Stan Jackson Memorial Award for
being the highest scoring Huron
County 4-H Beef member at the
Huron 4-H Awards.
Awards were presented to 4-H
competitors in several different
competitions, including beef, swine,
sheep, goat and skills awards.
Martin also received the Don
Pullen award for having the over-all
highest score in the county.
Cole MacPherson had the Grand
Champion Steer at the Seaforth Fall
Fair, while Kristina Drennan had the
Grand Champion Heifer.
The reserve champion steer was
shown by Jackie Henderson, and
third and fourth place steers were
brought by Dallas Coultes and Katie
Hern.
Drennan also received the first
Signal Star Publishing Award for the
Press Reporter Competition, the Hill
& Hill Farms Limited Award for
being the highest senior judge, the
Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce Award for highest overall
judging and the Huron County 4-H
Leaders’ Association for the Club
Secretary Competition
Shannon Ryan and Brooke
Mathonia received the second and
third place Signal Star Publishing
Awards.
Zach Drost and Amber Brodie
received the second and third Huron
County 4-H Leaders Association
awards.
Drost also received the South
Huron Sheep Leaders Award for his
outstanding effort in the 4-H Sheep
Club.
Abbey Gibson brought the reserve
champion heifer, while Melissa
MacIntyre and Tyler MacPherson
had the third and fourth place
entries, respectively.
Tyler MacPherson also received
the Home Town Custom Builders
award for the top intermediate
showperson Seaforth Fair.
Murray Cardiff awarded Shelley
Kroes his self-named award for the
top all-round 4-H member in Huron
County.
Kroes also received the Ontario
Plowman’s Association Award for
being an outstanding agricultural 4-
H member, the Bergsma Award for
having the Champion 4-H Gilt,
Dalton Black received the
Warden’s Novice Award for being
the first year member with the best
competitive score from 2010 Huron
County Warden Bert Dykstra. Black
also received the Huron County
Beef Producers Association Award
for being the top novice beef
member.
Loretta Higgins was awarded the
Ben Lobb Award for the JuniorMember Essay competition byHuron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb. For dedication to the 4-H club,
Darrell Bergsma presented Margaret
Vincent with the Dedication Award.
Vincent also received the
Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce Award for being the
highest scoring member of the 4-H
Dairy Club.
Rob Marriott received both the
Lawrence Beane Financial award for
being the best high senior beef
showperson at the Seaforth Fair and
the Brussels Agri Services Award for
being the champion beef
showperson at the Seaforth Fair.
The Maple Ridge Beef Farm
Award for the champion junior beef
showperson at the Seaforth Fair
went to Ashley Higgins.
The W.J. (Bill) Sproul Memorial
Award, which goes to the top beef
group of three at the Seaforth Fair
went to the Lucknow Beef group;
Brad MacIntyre, Melissa MacIntyre
and Tyler Murray.
Jacob McGavin received the Steve
Corbett Award for the high score at
the Plowman’s Club, the Ross
Gordon Award for the best crown at
Junior Day and the Bill Leeming
Award for the best finish at Junior
Day.
The McGavin Farm Equipment
Award went to Zach Drost for
scoring the highest points among
first year Sodbuster members.
The Townsend Tire Award, given
to the youngest member of the
Sodbuster Club, was awater to Troy
Leeming.
The Sod Buster Leaders’ Award
was given to Shannon Ryan and
Murray Dale for their achievements
in competitive plowing and non-
competitive plowing respectively.
Brandon McGavin received the
Agvise Award for being the highest
scoring Sodbuster member at theInternational Plowing Match.Chelsea Terpstra received the OldMill Award for being the highest
scoring member of the 4-H Sheep
Club.
The Lucknow Co-oP Award, given
the high novice member of the 4-H
Sheep Club was awarded to Shelby
Higgins.
Kabrina Bishop received, for her
Champion Market Lamb at the
Seaforth Fall Fair, the Elora Road
Meats Award. Bishop also received
the Judging Competition Award for
the highest intermediate judge.
Cody Younglao received the
Shiilalah Farm Award for his
champion ewe lamb at the Seaforth
fair.
The Carol Mitchell Award, given
to the champion 4-H sheep
showperson at the Seaforth Fair, was
awarded to Graham Finlay.
Margaret Vincent received the
Doug Kennedy Award for the
reserve champion sheep showperson
at the Seaforth Fair.
The North Sheep Leaders Award,
given for outstanding contribution to
the 4-H sheep club, was awarded to
Matt McNichol.
The Canadian Co-operative Wool
Growers Award, presented to the
champion 4-H fleece at the Seaforth
Fair, was given to Matthew Swart.
Swart also received an award for
living up to the 4-H motto, “Learn
by doing.”
Outstanding member awards were
given to Jolande Oudshoorn
(Wawanosh), Claire McFadzean
(Clinton), Brooke Mathonia
(Hensall) and Alison Terpstra (Grey
Township).
Awards for members who best live
up to the 4-H motto, “Learn by
doing” were given to Maisy
Jefferson (Wawanosh), Brianne
Sloan (Clinton) and McKenna
Clendenning (Hensall). The Huron County PorkProducers’ Association Award, forthe highest scoring member of the 4-
H Swine Club went to Lorraine
Kroes.
Lorraine also received the Scotia
Bank Award for being the champion
swine showperson at the Seaforth
fair and the T.D. Canada Trust
Award for the Champion 4-H
sweepstakes showperson at the
Seaforth Fair.
Alyssa Cronin received the John
Watson Award for the Champion 4-
H Market Pig.
Shawn Ryan received the Huron
County Pork Producers’ Award for
being reserve champion showperson
at the Seaforth Fair.
Troy Leeming received the Bank
of Montreal award for having the
first year high score for the 4-H
Swine Club.
Matt Van Osch received the Elliott
Nixon Insurance Brokers Ltd. Award
for having the Champion 4-H Dairy
Calf at the Seaforth Fair. Van Osch
also received the Huron Bay Co-op
Award for being the champion 4-H
dairy showperson at the Seaforth
Fair.
Emily Franken received the
Auburn Co-op trophy for having the
reserve champion 4-H dairy calf at
the seaforth fair. Franken also
received the D & D Glass Award for
winning reserve champion 4-H dairy
showperson at the Seaforth Fair.
The Scotia Bank Award, given to
the top novice dairy showperson at
the Seaforth Fair, was awarded to
Rebecca Franken.
The Huron Holstein Awards, given
to the highest and second highest
total scoring holstein calves were
awarded to Carrie Logtenberg and
Emily Van Osch, respectively.
The Jan Hayward Award for the
Locals honoured at Huron 4-H Club Awards

There are so many people out there who do
so much to improve their community.
Now you have a chance to say thanks.
Nominate that special person for the 26th
Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards.
Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and area
and Brussels and area communities to receive an award for contribution to the
community. If you know someone you think should be honoured, please fill in the ballot
and send it in. You may attach a longer explanation of why you think your nominee
should win, if you like. If you have nominated someone before and he or she didn't win,
please feel free to try again.
