The wedding of Alicia Dick and Scott McDonald was held on their farm on Moncrieff Rd. in Morris Township. The bride is the daughter of Joe and Susan Dick of Seaforth and the groom the son of Rick and Jo-Ann McDonald, Walton. The simple cere- mony was held in the shade of the stately pine trees in front of their home and was conducted by Rev. Dr. Peter Kugba-Nyande of Duff’s United Church, Walton. The strong breeze cooled the guests but caused a few problems with the Reverend’s paperwork for the ceremony. The bride and her attendants almost didn’t make it to the farm on time for the ceremony. The motorhome they were travelling in had a flat tire, just as it started up Moncrieff Rd. to the farm. It slowly made its way in the lane and luckily, they had a second motorhome to use following the wedding to travel to Seaforth Golf Course for pictures. The bride wore a strapless, fit and flare gown that featured a lace-up back and short train. The gown was embroidered with seed pearls on the bodice and throughout the gown. A finger-tip veil completed her ensem- ble. The bride was attended by her best friend Sarah McDonald of Walton as maid of honour. Alicia’s bridesmaids were her school friends, Shea Bodendistle, Mount Forest; Denise Carnochan, Londesborough; Jaclyn Hulley, Seaforth and Brette Dietz, Londesborough. The ladies looked lovely in burnt orange, short strap- less dresses and carried arrange- ments of white lilies, daisies andgreenery. The best man for the groom wasDarryl Houston of Brussels and thegroomsmen were Barry Young,Seaforth; Devin Blake, Walton; Jason Konarski, Seaforth and Jeff Linton of Walton. The handsome gentlemen looked dashing in black tuxes with grey vests and solid orange ties. The groom had a striped orange and grey tie to complete his look. The wedding dinner and reception were held in a beautiful tent. Thedécor was white on white with love-ly floral centrepieces on the roundtables. The co-ms./master of cere-monies were Kendal Carnochan andSteve Carnochan. The twist to get- ting the bride and groom to kiss was to sink the high point ring in Texas horseshoes. A slide show of the cou- ple was enjoyed by all. Scott and Alicia enjoyed a delayed honeymoon to Whistler, B.C. in November and are happily settled on Moncrieff Rd. (Photo by Michelle Van Loon, Dublin) Groomsmen’s job less deadly than before MS –Happy couples choose friends and family members to serve as attendants in their weddings. Bridesmaids and groomsmen each have different responsibilities in the wedding. In ancient times, groomsmen essentially served as the groom’s bodyguards, ensuring that he made it safely to the altar and to his future wife. Today, the groomsmen’s roles are not based on saving life and limb. Today’s groomsmen serve as assistants to the groom and help plan the bachelor party. They also usher guests down the aisle at the ceremony. They also may have a few other responsibilities, depend- ing on what the couple wants of their assistants. Before the Wedding • Help pick out the tuxedos and show up for fittings. • Help plan and share the cost of the bachelor party. • Attend rehearsals for the cere- mony and appear at the rehearsal dinner. • Pay for their own wedding attire or formal wear rentals. • Help unload cars with supplies if the couple is doing the decorating for the wedding themselves. • Pay for their travel expenses and accommodation during the celebra- tion. • Return formal wear for them- selves and the groom. • Provide transportation for the couple to the airport or honeymoon destination if the best man is unavailable. During the Ceremony • Greet and seat guests at the cere- mony in the appropriate rows or Continued on page 21
