Sovereign, supreme disposal
(J.C. Philpot, “Meditations on Ephesians)
“And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over
everything” Ephesians 1:22
How vast, how numerous, how complicated are the various events and
circumstances which attend the Christian here below, as he travels onward to his
heavenly home!
But if all things are put under Jesus’ feet, there cannot be a single circumstance over
which He has not supreme control. Everything in providence and everything in
grace are alike subject to His disposal. There is not... a trial, a temptation, an
affliction of body or soul, a loss, a cross, a painful bereavement, a vexation, a grief,
a disappointment, a case, state or condition, which is not put under Jesus’ feet.
He has sovereign, supreme disposal over all events and circumstances. As
possessed of infinite knowledge He sees them; as possessed of infinite wisdom He
can manage them; and as possessed of infinite power He can dispose and direct
them for our good and His own glory.
How much trouble and anxiety would we save ourselves, could we firmly believe,
realize, and act on this!
If we could see by the eye of faith that... every foe and every fear, every difficulty
and perplexity, every trying or painful circumstance, every looked for or unlooked
for event, every source of care, whether at present or in prospect — are all at His
sovereign disposal, what a load of anxiety and care would be often taken off our
shoulders!

NEWS
FROM BLYTH
Blyth resident feels she was targeted by “crooks”Mary Passchier of Blyth was understandably shaken up after sheand her mother had a run-in withwhat she feels to be a group ofcrooks.Passchier was called early lastweek by a younger woman whoclaimed to be working for acompany that inspected furnaces. “In my naivety I handed the phoneto my mother because I didn’t knowabout the furnace,” Passchier said.“And my mother proceeded to give
them the information about the
furnace, and set up a time for them
to come on Tuesday [Feb. 15].”
After they gave their information,
Passchier was tipped off to the fact
that this wasn’t a business they were
dealing with.
“Before my mother hung up, [the
woman on the phone] said “God
Bless You”, and that isn’t the norm
when dealing with business people,”
she said.
After that, Passchier called the
North Huron municipal office to see
if they had heard anything.
“Usually, if testing is going on,
they will send out a notice, or have
heard about it, but they didn’t
know,” she said. “They told us to

Blyth Book fair raises nearly $1,500

Currently, at Blyth Public School,
the Grade 6/7 class has been
learning how to work
corroboratively and appropriately
with each other. The class has also
been writing their own news reports,
and may even be turning some of
them into a podcast. This is also part
of their response to the world
around us and media in their lives.
The class also presented their
speeches with the Grade 7/8
students.
In the Grade 7/8 class, the
students have begun to paint their
recreations of the Group of Seven
artwork. The students were to
choose a piece of artwork, draw the
outline of the artwork, and then
paint it. In math, the students have
begun a new chapter on integers and
have started review on that.
This week the Junior
Kindergarten students learned about
the letter “E” and its two sounds and
how it makes other letters sound
differently. They also glued
eggshells onto large letter E’s. They
played lots of games centering
around the letter and visited our
school’s book fair.
The Senior Kindergarten class
concentrated upon the fairy tale
Rumpelstiltskin and learned about
inferring how the Miller’s Daughter
was feeling before, when and after
Rumpelstiltskin helped her. They
studied the letter “R” and its sound
this week. They also visited the
school’s book fair and the Blyth
Public Library to sign out books.
Also this week the school held its
annual winter carnival. Students
spent the morning break playing
winter-related games and snacking
on hot chocolate and graham
crackers. All the Grade 8 students
either ran an event or were a leader
of group. It wasn’t a competition,
but it was fun seeing all the students
trying their hardest to win the
events. It was also great to see the
senior students taking part in the
events as well.
Last week the school held its
annual book fair. There was a
variety of books for kids of all ages,
from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
There were also some different
posters and a selection of school
supplies.
We also had a new series, called
“Discover Your World”, which is a
non- fiction series about the earth.
The book fair was a big success,
raising almost $1,500. This allowed
the school to purchase almost
$500 worth of books for the library.
