Huron received $140,786 for
hosting OLG Slots at Clinton
Raceway. The payment was for the
host municipality’s third-quarter
share of slots revenue (October to
December 2010). To date, Central
Huron has received more than $6
million in non-tax gaming revenue.
Payments are made on a quarterly
basis according to the government
fiscal year, which runs from April to
March. OLG Slots at Clinton
Raceway opened on Aug. 24, 2000.
Since opening, the facility has
attracted more than 1.9 million
visitors.
“OLG Slots at Clinton Raceway
has provided substantial economic
and community benefits to the
Municipality of Central Huron since
2000,” says MPP Carol Mitchell.
“We all benefit from this strong
partnership with OLG and the
continuing investments in our
municipality that are made possible
through this sharing of gaming
revenue.”
In total, OLG issued more than
$17.7 million in third-quarter non-
tax gaming revenue payments to 23
municipalities that host OLG
Casinos and OLG Slots-at-racetrack
facilities. To date, OLG has
distributed $742.5 million to these
host municipalities.
Each municipality hosting an
OLG Slots-at-racetrack facility
receives five per cent of the gaming
facility’s gross slot machine revenue
from the first 450 slot machines and
two per cent from any additional
machines over that number. Funds
are used at the discretion of the
municipality.
Tracks and their horse people also
share the revenue generated by the
slots program, with 20 per cent of
gross slot machine revenue split
evenly between the two groups.
Since the launch of the program in
1998, more than $3.33 billion has
been shared between racetrack
owners and their horse people.
In 2010/2011, the province will
allocate $120 million in gaming
revenue to support charities through
the Ontario Trillium Foundation
(OTF).
Every year, the Government of
Ontario allocates two per cent of
gross revenue from slot machines at
OLG Casinos and OLG Slots-at-
racetrack facilities to the province’s
problem gambling program for
research, treatment and prevention
programs. The amount for fiscal
2010/2011 is estimated at $39
million.

and four guests attended. After a
quick meeting, Edna Pletch and
Edna McLellan showed off a
beautiful quilt made by some of the
institute members and an amazing
group of volunteers, including the
members who provided lunches.
Tickets will soon be on sale with

Cathrine Campbell introduced
guest speaker Glenda Morrison of
Brussels, an avid history buff who
spoke to the group on a family tree
and tracing your roots and how they
are very different. A family tree lists
your name, date of birth, date of
death and date of marriage. Tracing
your roots is much more than that. It
answers a lot of questions like what
kind of work people did and did theyfight in a war.Start one yourself. Record yourinformation, then speak to familyand friends to collect information.
Document everything. Go through
old pictures, read old diaries, old
newspapers. There are also books
and magazines to help. Glenda
showed the group websites that are
very helpful. Some you can
subscribe to are free and a great
place to start. She has found that the
subscription websites do make
searching much quicker and allow
access to more information.
Members and guests showed such
an interest that they continued
through refreshments.
The next meeting is on March 9 at
1:30 p.m. at the Brussels Library.
The guest speaker is Maggie
Brennerman to speak on eight steps
to a healthier brain. Get involved in
your health and join us.
