came to join the Blyth United
Church Sunday school for their time
of fellowship.
Rev. Clark asked three of the
children from Belgrave to help him
light the candles at the front of the
church. Rev. Clark drew everyone’s
attention to the announcements
printed in the bulletin. Special
attention to the Holy Rollers makingturkey pies on Wednesday, Feb. 16.Help is always welcome. Come andenjoy the fellowship. Also the UCWwill be having a luncheon next

The first hymn, This is the Day”
was sung followed by the call to
worship repeated responsively, the
choral response “Glory To God in
the Highest”. The prayer of
invocation was repeated in unison.
The scripture reading was from
Genesis 25: 21-34 and 27: 1-45.
Bryce and Brett Glousher and
Connor Brooks and a friend took
part in acting out the scripture
message.
The children were asked to come
to the front for their story time. Rev.
Clark asked the children how Esau
and Isaac would feel when Esau’s
twin brother Jacob tricked their
father Isaac into thinking that he,
Jacob was the oldest of the twins.
The children thought that Esau and
Isaac would feel angry at Jacob for
deceiving their father into giving
Jacob his blessing instead of Esau.Jacob ended up running for his lifeand had to leave all the wealth andblessings behind him. Some of thechildren said that we should be
happy with what we have and not
make others angry at us because we

Blyth Legion welcomes new vet
At the annual meeting of the Blyth
Area Farmers’ Market, Feb. 5,
members decided to set a deadline
of May 1 to find enough new
vendors to keep the market
operating in 2011.
Three vendors attended the
meeting to express interest for 2011
but one indicated it wasn’t worth
while participating if the market
contained only three vendors.
The market grew out of a
successful one-day experiment in
August 2003, becoming a summer-
long market in 2004 with as many at
10 vendors. It runs from 12:30 to
4:30 p.m. to serve both local
shoppers and Blyth Festival visitors.
But variety is needed to attract
shoppers, said Keith Roulston,
market organizer. More local
farmers or gardeners offering fruits
and vegetables and bakers selling
bread, pies and other baked goods
are needed to make the market a
bigger attraction. If they can be
found by May 1, the market will
continue.
Anyone interested in selling at the
market can contact Roulston at 519-
523-4792, days, or 519-523-9636,
evenings and weekends or Julie
Sawchuk at 519-523-9932.

God’s most stubborn enemy!
(Jonathan Edwards, “Spiritual Pride”)
“I hate pride and arrogance!” Proverbs 8:13.
“The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go
unpunished.” Prov. 16:5
Pride is a person having too high an opinion of himself.
Pride is the first sin that ever entered into the universe, and the last sin that is rooted
out.
Pride is the worst sin. It is the most secret of all sins. There is no other matter in
which the heart is more deceitful and unsearchable. Alas, how much pride the best
have in their hearts!
Pride is God’s most stubborn enemy! There is no sin so much like the devil as
pride. It is a secret and subtle sin, and appears in a great many shapes which are
undetected and unsuspected.
