Blyth United learns where missionary money goesContinued from page 3knew what it was. When he showedthem if they said it was for money. He then told them how the moneywas divided on the front of the
envelope to help pay the expenses of
the church, mission and service and
any special project the church is
supporting. Rev. Clark then showed
a tape of the moderator, Marty
Tindell explaining how the missions
and service funds are divided and
what groups they support both
locally and internationally. When the
fund has lots of money there are
many projects that can be completed
but when the fund is short of money
programs have to be cut.
After the prayer repeated with the
congregation the children went
downstairs for their time of
fellowship. Candice Abell-Rinn
carried the Christ candle down to
Sunday School.
The scripture reading was from
Genesis 22: 1-14. Floyd Herman
thanked the congregation for their
donations for the choir at the
luncheon last Sunday after church. The anthem the choir sang was “IStand Amazed In the Presence.” Rev.Clark’s message to the adults was,“Changing the Channel”. When you
get a new TV you have to find how
to work the remote to be able to
change the channels.
Usually we turn to God only when
there is a problem. God will give us
a different prospective to look at our
problem. God helps us change the
way we look at things. In the old
days the people thought that it was
God’s way to have masters and
slaves. Slaves were like dogs and not
human. Racism still exists today. In
Bible times, Abraham wanted to
please God so he and his son Isaac
went up in the mountain where
Abraham was going to sacrifice
Isaac to please God. God sent an
angel to tell him to stop as he had
proven his love for God. Abraham
named the place “Jehovahjireh”
meaning “God Will Provide”. We
can change but it takes work.
People of faith tune into God and
can change channels. Change isenviable. If we trust in God, we trustthe world will be a better place. Thehymn “Abraham and Sarah” wassung. The offering was received followed by the choral response “WeGive Thee but Thine Own” and thePrayer of Dedication, the prayers ofthe World and the singing of TheLord’s Prayer, the last hymn, “Faith of Our Fathers’ the commissioningand the benediction and the choralresponse, “Sent Forth by God’sBlessing.” Everyone was invited forcoffee and cookies after the service.

This week the junior kindergarten
class is focusing on the letter “B”
and continue to learn about
transportation. They also have been
building milk carton boats then had
boat races on Friday. They also
made paper boats, studied
bulldozers, fastened buttons and
played ball.
The senior kindergarten students
continued their unit on fables and
fairytales studying Aesop’s fable of
“The Country Mouse and the City
Mouse”. They also talked about
responsibility and being kind to
others. They also spent time printing
words with the “C” or “S” sounds.
The Grade 1/2 class, in
preparation for Oral Communication
for poems, stories and storytelling,
are using fairytales and follow up
centres to learn about the retelling of
stories and presentation skills.
Throughout their study of
storytelling and oral
communication, students continue to
build a framework providing them
with schema to sort different types
of stories and books including
fiction and non-fiction.
