Happy Valentine’s Day
I am not what I once used to be!
(J. C. Ryle, “Are you regenerate?”)
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the
Lord.” Hebrews 12:14
The regenerate man is a holy man.He endeavors... to live according to God’s
will, to do the things that please God, to avoid the things that God hates.
His aim and desire is to love God with heart and soul, and mind and strength -- and
to love his neighbour as himself. His wish is to be continually looking to Christ as
his Example as well as his Saviour; and to show himself Christ’s friend, by obeying
whatever He commands.
No doubt he is not perfect. None will tell you that sooner than himself. He groans
under the burden of indwelling corruption cleaving to him. He finds an evil
principle within him constantly warring against grace, and trying to draw him away
from God. Yet, in spite of all short-comings, the average bent and bias of... his ways
holy; his doings holy; his tastes holy and his habits holy.
In spite of all his swerving and turning aside, like a ship going against a contrary
wind, the general course of his life is in one direction -- toward God and for God.
He will generally be able to say, with old John Newton, “I am not what I ought to
be. I am not what I want to be. I am not what I hope to be in another world. But
still, I am not what I once used to be!By the grace of God, I am what I am!”
“Let none conclude that they have no grace, because they have many imperfections
in their obedience. Your grace may be very weak and imperfect, and yet you may
be truly born again, and be a genuine son of God and heir of heaven.” (Hopkins,
1670)

Grade 7/8s learn dance
By Carlene Bremner,
Isaac Nicholson and Eric Steele
Currently, in the Grade 7/8 class,
students have started a new chapter
on measurement in math. They
have been focusing on circles and
calculating area. In language the
class has been looking at media
texts, their components and
information. The class has also
started dance for this term. After
learning the acronym BASTE
(Body, Action, Space, Time,
Energy) the class has been divided
up into groups and each will be
performing their created dance.
In the Grade 6/7 class, students
have been working on a special
project with East Wawanosh Public
School. All the Grade 6 and 7
students in each school have been
put together in groups. The project
involves a computer program called
Google Docs which will allow the
students to send e-mails and work
on projects together.
The book fair will be set up and
Market needs vendors
New vendors are badly needed for
the Blyth Area Farmers’ Market to
continue for 2011.
When the market holds its annual
planning meeting Saturday, Feb. 5,
new vendors are required to help
provide the variety requested by
customers, both local shoppers and
Blyth Festival visitors, said Keith
Roulston, market organizer.
“We need to find more local
farmers or gardeners to offer fruits
and vegetables and bakers to sell
bread, pies and other baked goods,”
Roulston said. “Local shoppers and
theatre-goers have made these their
favourite products over the years.”
Volunteers are also needed to help
share the burden in setting up the
market some weeks, and to help
promote it to shoppers and to
vendors.
The market’s annual meeting will
be held at Saturday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.
at The Citizen office. Anyone
interested in selling at the market,
or volunteering to help keep it going
can attend or contact Roulston at
519-523-4792, days, or 519-523-
9636, evenings and weekends.
