EPIC youth project in Blyth
The Irish Rovers are set to appear
on the Blyth Memorial Hall stage in
Blyth on Tuesday, March 8. These
international ambassadors of Irish
music have maintained their
timeless ability to deliver a
rollicking, rousing performance of
good cheer – one that will soon have
you singing and clapping along. In
fact, for more than four decades, The
Irish Rovers have charmed and
entertained audiences around the
world.
The Irish Rovers are best known
for their recordings of Shel
Silverstein’s “The Unicorn”, and
also hosting several variety
programs in the 1970s on Canadian
television. Over the years, The Irish
Rovers have balanced their
repertoire of traditional, and novelty
material with contemporary songs
by Bryan Adams, Gordon Lightfoot,
Joni Mitchell, Randy Bachman and
many others; their songs have
become anthems of revelry and joy
among generation after generation
of fans. Like “The Unicorn”, The
Irish Rovers are legendary and
magical, and a good time is
guaranteed for all.
The show is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets
are $39.50, and are available at 519-
523-9300 or www.blythfestival.com

Good Soul of Szechuan” by David
Harrower, a modern adaptation of
Bertolt Brecht’s “The Good Woman
of Setzuan” to be mounted at the
Blyth Festival in early April.
Rehearsals will begin this week
and run until the performances from
March 31 to April 3.
The Epic Youth Project is
produced by Huron Arts and
Heritage Network (formerly
Heritage and Culture Partnership),
Blyth Festival, Huron County
Library, along with community
partners with funding assistance
provided by the Ontario Arts
Council.
The Wingham Heritage Theatre is
sponsoring a bus trip to Stage West
in Mississauga to see “Happy
Days – A New Musical” on
Wednesday, March 23. A bus pass
includes a buffet lunch starting at 11
a.m., excellent seats for the matinee
showing at 12:30 p.m. and
transportation.
The Stage West website:
www.stagewest.com gives this
description of the nostalgic musical.
“Goodbye grey skies, hello blue!
Happy days are here again with
Richie, Ralph Malph, and the
unforgettable “king of cool” Arthur
“The Fonz” Fonzarelli. Based on the
hit TV series, this show reintroduces
the Cunninghams and the days of
1959 Milwaukee complete with
varsity sweaters, hula hops and
jukebox sock hopping’. The famed
Arnold’s malt shop is in danger of
demolition, so the gang teams up to
save it!”
Bus passes must be purchased by
Feb. 15 and seating is limited. For
more information about the trip, call
the Wingham Heritage Theatre Box
