Eugene Neudorf Read Rhea Hamilton Seeger’sGardening column on the Huron Home andGarden Guidesection of our website www.northhuron.on.ca By Mikenna Lane On behalf of St. Anne’s Catholic Secondary School, we hope that everyone had a very happy, joyful, and blessed Christmas, New Year and holiday. It is now the time for everyone, including the students of St. Anne’s, who were blessed with two weeks off of school to get back into the swing of things. Welcome 2011! We hope that it will bring a year of health, happiness, peace and success. We will be working diligently over the next few weeks to finish off our first semester of classes with many Quality Assessment Tasks and our exams being scheduled. On Monday, the boys’ basketball teams, girls’ volleyball teams and the swim team started this week’s athletics off with a boom. The swim team dominated the pool in Wingham. Throughout the week the boys’ hockey team won their game 2-0 against Stratford Northwestern, on home ice. The junior and senior boys’ basketball teams were also victorious on home courts against Goderich District Collegiate Institute on Jan. 5, the nordic ski team and girls’ hockey team gave it their all on Jan. 6 and the junior and senior girls’ volleyball teams won all of their games. Well done, Eagles. As always all of the clubs of St. Anne’s such as Habitat for Humanity, Students for Life, OSAID, the French Club, God Squad and Me to We are contributing to the community by consistently keeping students involved and raising awareness and funds. Students will be holding a prayer service next week to remember our friends in Haiti who are still recovering from the devastating earthquake that hit their country on Jan. 12, 2010. Eagles will be raising funds in support of the upcoming Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories. A reminder to all St. Anne’s alumni: please claim your yearbooks from 08/09 and 09/10 in the front office as soon as possible. St. Anne’steamsvictorious Food, fellowship and fun(ds) Members of the Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church in Auburn came together for a shepherd’s pie and soup meal on Sunday after their church service. The event raised funds for their missionaries to bring food to less fortunate people in El Salvador.
