ing. College and a life devoted to
the ministry followed in due coursc.

19-year-old youth hurtled to' his
death from near the top of the stee
ple.
The "youth was the son of Jamie
son Reid, a bricklayer from Goder
ich, who with, his family took up
temporary residence in the village*
while- construction' work was under
way. The1 young man was a first
cbudin of David M. and, Robert H.
Thompson of Lucknow and a broth
er of Charles. Reid of Goderich and
until recehtfy, Duron County. Magis-
trate.
-;.u.Although David Reid was assisting
his father at bricklaying, at.the time
of the accident -he was engaged in
painting the base of the spire. For
some unaccountable ^reason he left
the scaffolding and attempted to as-
^ehd a rope to the top oT the steeple..
When' he had almost reached the
top. the rope becatfie untied and the
unfortunate youth hurtled- to .the
ground. Eye witnesses i at the time
stated that he struck the scaffold
about 15 feet, below; hpng there for
a second! and then unable to retain
his hold, dropped; 1
