The studepts, -who were
accompanied by Dale Grey, head
of the English department, are
studying the play in their first term,
The group left the school at
noon 'Wednesday and were. met
at the theatre by students of
Beal Techoicaf school and
Glencoe Central School who had
also travelled to London to
Preview the show.
Comments by students and by
Mr. Grey after the show led
many to the conclustion that the
production was not readily
accepted by the watchers, even
though they felt the outing was
worthwhile.
Correct washing techniques
should eliminate the need for
bleach, except for badly soiled
or yellowed garments.

The Christmas meeting of the
Kippen United Church. Women
was well attended by, members
and guests,
Mrs. Harold Jones and Mrs,
Tom Reid presented a
meaningful devotional with the
gospel Christmas stories
interspersed with carols played
by our pianist, Mrs: Ross
Broadfoot,
Mrs. John Sinclair also
assisted in the scripture
presentation, Mrs. Keith Lovell,
accompanied by Mrs. G.
Moffatt, sang three solo
numbers, the last of which was
the deeply-moving "0 Holy
Night." Mrs. Harold Jones gave a
1969 Christmas message.
Mrs. Robert Elgie, the
president, then welcomed
members and visitors. Mrs. H.
Binnendyk read the minutes of
last meeting, Roll call was
answered by a favorite Christmas
symbol. Thank-you notes were
reau by Mrs, K. McKay from Mr.
Norman Dickert.
Reports were given by Mrs. K.
McLellan and Mrs. Laird
Finlayson. The nominating
committee report was given by
Mrs. W. J. F. Bell and was
accepted. Plans were completed
for the church school concert.
It was agreed that the ladies
would undertake to help with
craft work at the Hensall
Nursing Home in February,
The year's UCW programs,
which had been compiled and
printed by Mrs. Lloyd Cooper,
were handed out with gratitude
to Mrs. Cooper for her work.
Mrs. Harold Jones then
introduced Mrs. Ellwood of
Clinton who showed splendid
slides of her recent trip to
Switzerland. Mrs. John A.
Cooper gave courtesy remarks.
The hostesses, Mrs. Robert
McGregor and Mrs. Alf Moffatt,
provided festive and delicious
refreshments.
Mrs. Ray Bell had the
misfortune of falling on some ice
outside her home Dec. 5 and
fractured her ankle in three
places. She was taken to St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Littleton
and Charlene of London visited
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Faber and
family recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe McQuarrie
and children spent a recent
weekend in Meaford visiting a

spent a recent weekend with her

A White Gift service was held
last Sunday in " the United
Church with the pastor, Rev. M.
Morrison, in charge and several
members of the Sunday School
assisted with the service. All gifts
will be forwarded to the Biafra
Fund.
The Explorer group met last
week in the church with the
leaders, Mrs. Robert Taylor and
Mrs. Barry Taylor. The
president, Miss Cathy Taylor
opened the meeting. Members
repeated the Explorer purpose
and motto.
Miss Sylvia Wilson led in
prayer, Miss Bonnie Dawson
read the scripture lesson, Miss
Nancy Fawcett read the minutes
and the roll call was answered by
10 members. Miss Mary Ann
Kalbfleisch took up the
collection.
Plans were made to hold a
Christmas party for the mothers.
After recreation, the meeting
was closed with the Explorers'
prayer.
Mrs. John T. McAsh is at
present in Clinton Public
Hospital.
Middleton
The six-lesson carol service
will be held in St. James'
Church, Middleton on Sunday.
Laymen chosen by the rector,
the ttev. E. J, 13, Harrison, Will
assist in this service.
The Sunday School pupils and
teachers have donated their
ChriStmas present money to the
Primates World Hunger Relief
Fund.
The annual Christmas Eve
service Of holy communion will
be held in St, James' at 880
p.m.

Christmas boxes to shut-ins of
the congregation and patients in
South Huron Hospital, Exeter;
Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich
and Huronview, Clinton last

TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT
Miss Greta Lammie. was the
accornPanist. Sanl Bennie was
guest soloist and also led the
sing-song.
Mrs. Beaton introduced the
guest speaker, the Rev, W. Jarvis,
who spoke on Christmas
customs throughout the world.
Mrs. Elizabeth Riley gave
courtesy. remarks.

hostesses, Mrs. Grace Peck and
Mrs. James McAllister,
afternoon where. he welcomed
the children of Hensall and
district, at the annual Christmas
party sponsored by the local
businessmen. Members of the
Hensall fire brigade handed out
some 500 bags of treats and
chocolate milk, compliments of
Hurondale Dairy,
The children also enjoyed free
movies with Jim Hyde in charge
of the projector. The
businessmen will also sponsor
free skating Saturday afternoons
during December and January.

The Christmas meeting of the
Hensall Women's Institute was
held in the Legion Hall, Dec. 10.
Mrs. Clarence Reid, president,
was in charge.
During the business period
plans were laid to hold a euchre
party in January. Proceeds are to
go to the Hensall Recreation
Park and Community Centre
Board for repairs for the arena.
Mrs. Grace Peck presented
reports of the fall board meeting
of South Huron Women's
.Institutes held in Hensall and
also a report of the Huronview
Auxiliary.
Mrs. Carl Payne submitted
highlights of the area convention
held at St. Thomas. She
attended as a delegate.
Mrs. Fred Beer presided for
the program in which the
members were entertained by

meeting of the United Church
Women with the Rev, Harold
Currie as guest speaker.
President, Mrs. Thos. Brintnell
gave a Christmas message. The
worship service was given by
Mrs. Earl Kinsman with Mrs.
Percy Wright 'assisting. Rev.
Currie conducted the installation
of the new officers for 1970: A
donation of money will be sent
to Miss Mary Nichol in India. A
pot-luck dinner and quilting will
be held at the January meeting.

Miss Anne Hayter of Varna
was successful in passing the
grade eight piano examination of
the Western Ontario
Conservatory of Music with
honours. Anne also passed the
grade theory examination with
honours at the midsummer

Huron District Hospital, Exeter,
Tuesday.
