Dunlop said he expected finances would remain within the budget forecast. He said interest rates this year amount to about $115,000. No decision was made on the acoustics problem at Central Huron Secondary School. The board did learn that the carpeting treatment would be approximately half the cost of acoustic panelling but was concerned that the cost of maintaining the carpeted walls would be a factor in the final decision. The matter was left in abeyance until policy is made regarding the proper methods to employ on such expenditures eg, what jobs must be tendered and which jobs can be completed without such formal preparations, MR.CtitiMIEIt',131t71Y*A3Z2C3Iztsli3ra17:MWS)*UrZMiYltAl ltd and plowing from 12:01 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. will be towed away at owner's expense . i By-Law 10 for 1957 Harold Lobb CHAIRMAN, PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE „.;:r1',-1,11:5ZMit'itt-a7a1;175..17=PI3tZt;,51CS14a1;1=5'00 Effective Dec. 1st to April 1st any persons leaving motor vehicles on town streets' obstructing snow removal World famous Garrard auto- matic 2025TC turntable. from • Hallmark Collection Soeaker Sextet — 2-8", 4- Ceramic 207f) carttidee, 31/5". This young fellow of Anglo-Saxon descent is 19 months old, a charmer with blue eyes and strawberry blond curly hair. Earl is a jolly boy himself and likes to make people laugh with comical expressions, and antics, He is right at home with children and animals. Not in the least shy, he will smile and chatter with anyone who will pay attention to him. Earl was born prematurely and is therefore a bit behind the average in development. Until recently he had a good deal of respiratory trouble and still has a definite wheeze. He needs a warm, stimulating home with parents who will not be concerned over his health and will be patient while he catches up on his prematurity. It would be ideal if he could have brothers and sisters in his permanent family. To inquire about adopting Earl please write, to Today's Child, Department of Social and Family Services, Parlia- ment Buildings, Toronto 182. Mr, Anderson Development Associates adds to but does MA supplant .the services _of agencies such as Midwestern Ontario Regional Development COuncil (MODA)- Warden Ilayter said he felt the consultants minimized the. MODA Operation, noting that Huron contributes only _$5,000 yearly to its budget. He suggested that it would accomplish much more if that contribution, was raised to $42,000. "I like the proposal put up tonight," he said, "but many of the ideas are the same as MODA's. MQDA's problem has been one of finances. "I think for a good Many years you looked at MODA as just another government agency and did not give it support. It needs local participation ... you will get out only what you put in.', Mr. McKinley said yesterday that Don 'Jamieson, federal transport minister, wrote recently to say that DOT officials surveyed the CFB Clinton plant and concluded that "economic and operational factors" make it "undesirable" as a transport training site. The Huron MP said also that he filed in the House of Commons a notice of motion for production of "copies of all reports, studies, surveys, submissions, petitions, documents and other papers prepared for or submitted to the Government of Canada in respect of the abandonment of the Canadian Forces base at Clinton ... and, in particular ... papers on or relating to comparisons of the economic and financial surrounding Clinton base and other Canadian Forces bases in Ontario. In another action, Mr. McKinley submitted a written question in the House asking: "What is the estimated cost of additional facilities or of renovating facilities that will be required at Canadian Forces Base Kingston to facilities the Radar and Communications School now carried out at Canadian Forces Base Clinton for National Defence? And also that the Town of Markham had the courage of its convictions, and drew up this resolution. I too have felt, for the last few years, that the contents of Local base aids Ghana The Canadian. Mrs, Alice Fee Clinton . * * To the editor: May I through your columns commend the action of Clinton town council in endorsing the resolution of Markham eonneil urging PrOvineial officials to "maintain .a firm Position against the '• invasion of ahriOrrnal emphasis "an So; and violence in films, TV, theatre and print." I personally protest the 0130 over the Under Attack show Dr. Franklin Kameny, founder of a Washington honlesmmal group, the Mattachirie Society, before students at University of Western Ontario Nov, 13. I ,heard adverse 'comments concerning the Under Attack show the following week, but I did not watch it. Unless the taxpayers register strong protest, such programs will continue. Lucy R. W.
