OF CANADA: LW,
stopped some terrific tries by
Arthur.
Butch Fleet's three-goal effort
was not enough as the club had
trouble breaking through
Arthur's defense on the small ice
surface. With two in the first and
a single in the second period,
Fleet scored his second hat trick
of the season.
Late in the game, Harvey Dale
and Derwin Carter were assessed
10-minute misconducts and both
players will be missing from the
Colts lineup this evening against
Port Elgin.

Midgets dropped a 5-3 decision
to Goderich.
Five different scorers found
the mark in the Pee Wee contest.
Bill Irwin, Greg Holmes, Jamie
Thompson, Robin McAdam and
Neil Colquhoun. Assistant Capt.
John Graham helped on three of
the goals.
Capt. Danny Colquhoun
scored three and assisted on
eight others in the lopsided win
over Hensall. Linky Langille had
a field day, with eight goals and
three assists. Paul Kay, Brian
Kennedy and Rick Cameron
scored two each. Robbie Stirling
and Bill Cantelon scored the
other two goals.
Again led by Danny
Colquhoun, with three goals, the
Bantams downed Goderich 6.4
while picking up 14 of the 19
penalties. Others scoring were
Paul Kay, Jim Cameron and
Mike Anstett.
As in the first game, the
Clinton boys picked up nine of
the 11 penalties in the Midget
game. Goderich scored two early
goals, beating David Slade. Two
quick ones by Clinton's Jim
Toop and Gary Cummings tied
the score at 2-2.
Goderich went ahead 3-2 in
the first period and scored the
only goal in the second. Both
clubs tallied singles in the third.
Gary Cummings' second goal
closed the score 4-3, but
Goderich's number nine, Stu
Fisher, scored his third goal to
relieve the pressure.

The senior Lancers of
Lambton County won* the
Lancer Invitational Tournament
Saturday at Petrolia, beating
Central Huron Redmen 56-50-
The Lancers had to go into
one three-minute overtime
period to win. This last game for
the championship proved to be
very disorganized on the
technical level. Much of the
difficulty arose from the lack of
communication between the
referees and timekeeper.
Much to Coach McIver's
dismay it appeared Central
Huron had the game won. With
no time remaining on the clock,
Central Huron had a 50-48
lead. For some unknown reason
or mistake play continued for an
extra five seconds. By this time
Lambton had been fouled.
Lambton's Joe Artiss made
the two free throws to tie the
game. The disheartened Redmen
went into the three-minute
overtime with a mental and
physical letdown. The final
score, Lambton Lancers 56
Central Huron Redmen 50.
Central Huron dominated
play in the first half on the
excellent outside shooting of
Pete Cameron. Pete collected 18
points in the first half. Central
Huron left the floor at half-time
with a comfortable 33-19 lead.
The 18 points in the first half
and six points in the second half
gave Pete a total of 24 points
and a berth on the all-star team
as the top guard of the
tournament.
The second half proved to be
disastrous for the Redmen as
they made costly errors. These
errors helped Lambton to close
to within five points at
three-quarter time, 39-34. The
Redmen repeatedly fouled and
turned over the ball on missed
Plays. After that Lambton had
the ttenmen on the run. The
death blow proved to be the fine
shooting of Joe Artiss of
Lambton who collected 18
points, 11 of those points in the
last quarter and overtime period.
In the three-minute overtime
Lambton completely dominated
play, picking up six points to the
Redmen's zero score. Other
scorers for Central Huron were
Vernon McMichael with seven
points, Rick Zablocki and Paul
Bartliff with six points each,
Bob Cooper with four points,
Doug Cameron, two and Gord
Lavis, one point.
Central Huron and Lambton
earned the right to meet each
other in the championship game
by beating Glencoe and
Blenheim respectively. In the
Central Huron-Glencoe
encounter, the fine outside
shooting '-of Pete Cameron, 13
points, the aggressive play of
Paul Bartliff and Rick Zablocki,
8 points each, proved to be too
much for the smaller Glencoe
team. Other scorers for the
Redmen were Vernon
McMichael, seven points, Bob
Cooper and Gord Lavis, six
points each, Andy Amsing, two
points, and Doug Cameron, one
point.
In the consolation game,
Blenheim beat Glencoe soundly
75-38 on the fine outside
shooting of all-star centre Ken
Stowe who collected forty-six
points.
Natives of Goderich

50th anniversary -
The Rev. Charles D. Cox of
Wingham and his wife, the
former Luella F. Lobb, celebrate
their 50th wedding anniversary
on Dec. 20. Both are natives of
Goderich Township. They were
married in 1919 at the bride's
home.
Mr. Cox, a graduate of
Emmanuel Theological College
in Toronto, served 42 years in
the ministry of the United
Church. The couple spent 16
years as missionaries on the
frontiett of Canada's northland
and then served at several
charges in southern Ontario, Mr.
Cox's last charge was Emmanuel

Toronto.
The Coxes moved to Wingham
last April. Mr. Cox's prolonged
ill-health will prevent a large
celebration. The only guests
invited to an anniversary dinner
will be their daughter, Mrs. B.
Gerber of North Bay, and their
grandson, Dr. D. Gerber and
family, of London.

The Clinton Colts, an
Intermediate B hockey- team,
won two of its three games last
week. After a penalty-filled
match with Listowel last
Thursday, both clubs stuck to
hockey in a return game at
Listowel Tuesday and Clinton
won 3-2.
Mel Holmes completed a play
set up by Paul Draper and, Bud
Yeo early in the third period to
put the club ahead 3-1. A
minute later Listowel scored,
but Daer held the puck out for
the remainder of the period.
Both goalies were injured by
flying pucks in the first period.
First, Lorne Daer of Clinton was
struck in the face and required
four stitches. With the Colts'
sub-goalie, Newt Collins, filling
in for Daer, Listowel's
netminder Gary McLement was
hit above the eye.
Clinton's two early goals were
scored by Budd Boyes. Only six
penalties were assessed - five to
Listowel and one to Clinton.
• The large hometown crowd
on Thursday night saw the Colts
win over arch-rival Milverton.
Last season -Milverton downed
the Colts in every game at
Clinton's arena.
Three first-period goals helped
the 6-3 win. Budd Boyes,
returning to last year's form, was
the sparkplug Clinton needed for
its win.
Boyes set up Harvey Dale at
the 19-second mark for a quick
opening goal. Then at 14:57,
Derwin Carter slipped the puck
under Mohr. Four minutes later,
Boyes put a perfect pass over to
Carter. His shot flew off the
post, but Boyes followed in on
the play and banged in the
rebound.
Midway through the second
period, Milverton came , alive.
Erb scored all three Milverton
markers. The line of Boyes,
Carter and Dale had the visitors
at its mercy all night, Milverton
scored only two quick goals, 30
seconds apart late in the second
period. Carter carried the puck
in and passed over to Boyes who
went around into the corner and
flipped a perfect pass to Dale
out in front of the net. Then off
the face off, Harvey Dale passed
the puck back to the point and
big Ken Daer drove the puck
into the top corner.
Boyes, set up again by Dale
and Carter, scored Clinton's only
goal in the third period. Referees
Lee and O'Brien had the game
under control from the drop of
the first puck. They assessed
eight minors to each team.
The Colts suffered a 6-3
setback at Arthur last Sunday
night. The home team bounced
ahead 4-2 with two quick goals
late in the first period. Until
then, Newt Collins, playing his
first full game for the Colts, had

for Clinton's second goal.
With Zurich's goalie pulled,
John Graham put Clinton out in

Clinton's end 40 seconds later.
Zurich scored its second goal op
Don Peterson and 11 seconds
later Peterson just gOt his glove
on a high shot to deflect it into
the goal post. The puck bounced
off the post and into the corner.
In Kinsmen house league
