The executive meeting of the
mall United Church Women
held Monday evening with
e President, Mrs. Vern
clerdice, in charge and an

Plans were made to close the

MRS. WILLIAM DOUGLAS
Mrs. William J. Douglas,
rucefield, the former Elizabeth
Hudson, died Tuesday at the
ilbarchan Nursing Home,
aforth, in her 95th year.
Surviving are one daughter
rs. Lindsay (Anna Pearl) Eyre,
rucefield; two granddaughters
and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held
from the Bonthron Funeral
Home, Hensall, today at 2 p.m.,
conducted by Rev. E. D. Stuart.
Burial will be in Bayfield
Cemetery.
25TH ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer
Ferguson, prominent residents
of Hensall for 18 years, observed
their 25th wedding anniversary
Saturday Nov. 22 with a surprise
party held for them at the
Hensail Memorial Centre
arranged by their family and
relatives. Close to 300 relatives,
neighbours and friends attended.
Reeve Oliver Jaques made the
presentation of a purse of
money to the celebrants. Tpe,
staff of gensall District
Co-operative of which Mr.
Ferguson is manager, presented
the couple with a lovely swivel
rocker, Earl Wagner and. Jack
Upshall doing the honors.
Music for the dance was
provided by The Country Five.
AMBER REBEKAH
Regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge was held Nov.
19 with the chair taken by
Noble Grand, Mrs. Elgin
Thompson. Plans were made for
the' Christmas party the second
meeting in December with
exchange of gifts among the
members.
A number of members will
attend the Grand Master's
banquet at Seaforth Dec. 3.
Donations were approved to
the Sick Children's Hosptial,
London, and Barrie I.O.O.F.
Home. A thank-you note was
read from Mr. Eric Luther,
chairman of the C.N.I.B.
canvass, expressing thanks to
this Lodge for members who
worked for the project.'
COUPLE MOVES
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer
Dalrymple who recently took up
residence in Exeter were
honored by 70. friends and
neighbors at a farewell party
held Saturday evening in Hensall
Legion Hall.
An address was read by Ted
Roberts. A presentation was
made by Mrs. Roberts. Miss
Linda Roberts presented a
m agazine rack , F or
.entertainment cards and
crokinole were played.
Arranging the party were Mrs,
Ted. Roberts, Mrs. George Boa,
Mrs. Harold Parer. and Mrs.
Stanley Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs..
Dalrymple were formeriy of
Chiselhurst area.
UNITED CHURCH NOTES
Rev. H. F. Currie concluded
his series of messages on the
beatitudes at the morning service
Sunday.
On. Sunday Dec. 7, containers
will be placed in the vestibule of
the church for canned goods
which may be deposited for the
Rescue Mission in London. This
is a project of the Hi-C Youth
group.
Memorial flowers in the
Sanctuary, Sunday morning
were in loving memory of John
Boyd, place by the family.
KIPPEN EAST W.I.
With the president, Mrs. Ken
McKay, in the chair, the regular
monthly meeting of Kippen East
Women's Institute was held at
the home of Mrs. Harry Caldwell
with Mrs. Al Hoggarth as
co-hostess.
Members answered the roll
call- "What makes a good
hostess." Mrs. Caldwell
submitted the treasurer's report.
Reports were presented by Mrs..
Robert Kinsman, Sunshine
convener, Mrs. William Bell gave
a full report of the district board
meeting held at Hensall and the
secretary, Mrs. James
Drummond read correspon-
dence. POrlations of cash or
sewing from each member are to
be nrougpt for the
Children's Hospital.
The list of articles for display
at Exeter Fall Fair includes:
fancy cloth, hand made; table
arrangement; dinner place
setting; pumpkin pie suitably
displayed and a loaf of home
made bread.
Mrs. Grant McLean was in
charge of the program. Organ
music by Jack . Caldwell was
enjoyed by all.
The motto was given by Mrs.
Harry Caldwell and readings
were given by Mrs. Grant
McLean. A duet by Mrs. Al
Hoggarth and Mrs. Alderdice was
very amusing.
Reports were given by the
convener of citizenship and
education, Mrs. Alex McGregor;
current events, Mrs. John
Sinclair and home economics,
Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Triebner.
There was a display of sewing
and fancy work by the 4-H girls.
Gifts from the Institute were
presented by Mrs: Bill Kyle to
club leaders Mrs. Connolly, Mrs.
Robert Bell and Miss Donna
Whitehouse.
PERSONALS
Mrs. J. E. McEwen and Mrs.
Verna Twitchell attended the
bazaar, bake sale and tea held
last Saturday afternoon at the
Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich.
Twenty members of the UCW
of Hensall United Church
attended 'the meeting of the
Goshen UCW last Thursday
when Mrs. Ephriam Gingerich
showed colored slides and told
of her trip to South America.
Mr. And Mrs, Stewart„Bell and
Troyann have returned from
Lansing, Mich. where they spent
the last week with their
daughter, Pauline, who is a
skater with "Holiday on Ice,"
Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle
spent a few days recently visiting
relatives in Hamilton and
Waterloo.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Bell and
Troyann visited Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Sauter in
Marlette, Mich.
Ross Love of Clinton,
formerly of the Parr line, is, a
patient in Clinton Public
Hospital where he was admitted
on Saturday.
Mrs. Bruce Walker is a patient
in South Huron Hospital,
Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bozzatto
and Dana returned home
Wednesday of last week to Port
Colborne after spending three
months with the latter's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. William Kyle.
