Londesboro couple marks anniversary
married Nov. 20, 1929, at the
home of Mrs. Shobbrook's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley
Vodden, Con. 9, Hallett
Township, by the Rev. J. W.
Johnson. Attending were Mr.
and Mrs. Percy Gibbings, sister
of the groom and cousin of the
bride.
Mr. and Mrs. Shobbrook have
two daughters, Mrs. Ron
(Thelma) Ellerby of Clinton and
Mrs. Ross (Muriel) Millson of
Woodstock, They are
grandparents to nine.
Mrs. Shobbrook's uncle,
Amos Ball, 84, of Goderich was
among the guests last week.
Friends, neighbors and
relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Shobbrook of Londesboro
gathered in Londesboro Hall last
Friday evening to honor the
couple on their 40th wedding
anniversary.
Music for dancing was
supplied by Ian Wilbee's
orchestra. An address written by
Harry Fear was read by Gordon
Shobbrook. Gifts were presented
by Muriel and Ross Millson. Bert
and Doro each thanked everyone
for coming and voiced their
gratitude for the gifts. Lunch
was served by the family.

The Second CFB Clinton
Brownie Pack held an enrolment
ceremony last week.
The new members are Sandra
Arnott, Lana Exley, Catherine
MacPherson, Jacqueline Poire,
Julie Seguin and Danielle Seguin.
Third year stars were awarded
to Anna Beale, Katrina
MacAuley. Second year stars
went to Donna Sauter, Elizabeth

The Explorer group of the
United Church met in the
church and the meeting was
opened with the president, Miss
Cathy Taylor, in charge.
The Explorer purpose and
motto was recited by the nine
members present.
The scripture lesson was read
by Miss Wendy Mustard. Miss
Brenda Dawson gave the prayer.
The minutes were read by the
secretary, Miss Nancy Fawcett.
Miss Ann-Marie Heard took
up the offering. For crafts the
members are making Christmas
candles. After the meeting the
members went out selling
Christmas cakes.
Laymen's Sunday was
observed in the United Church
last Sunday when a Laymen's
Choir led the singing and took
part in the service.
This Sunday, Nov. 30, the
young people will have full
charge of the service in the
United Church.

rinks competed in the two-event, all-male event which is the
traditional opening of the curling club season. Nelson Howes
of Staffa was parade leader and piper for the march around the
ice. Cot. E. W, Ryan, base commander, delivered the first rock.

RANGERS
A skating party was held by
the Rangers Nov. 12. The girls
later went to Building 107 for a
light snack.
The Rangers left Nov. 15 to
attend a weekend camp at Glen
Mac, Seaforth. The girls were
under the leadership of Capt.
Belliveau, Commissioner Harper
and Lt. Barlow.
Last week the Rangers were
presented with their service
stars. Sea Ranger Sheridan
Moreton received her Boswain
Pipe from her father, MWO
Moreton.
