The majority are quite intelligent children who have a very weak sense of sound discrimination. For instance, "t" and "k" sound alike to them. Such children can and should be taught to tell one sound from another. The best time for this correction is between the ages of four and seven. Clinton Walkerton And Seaforth rEh; CLINTON 482.9525', What accounts for this extraordinary accuracy? Instead of the usual wheels and springs, Accutron has a tiny, electronically-driven tuning fork whose vibrations split each second into 360 precise little intervals. Ordinary watches have balance wheels. The balance wheel splits the second, too. Into 5 or 10 intervals. And not so precisely. That's why balance wheel watches can't compete with tuning fork time. Because of that tuning fork, we can guarantee Accutron accuracy to within a minute a month". We can promise something else, too. Early shopping Santas have the best selection. So stop by now. Near-perfect weather conditons were enjoyed by 72 elementary school pupils who, participated in a cross-country run at Air Marshal Hugh Campbell Public School in Adastral Park, CFB Clinton, last Friday afternoon. Six area schools were represented in the event organized' by W. G. Walker, The runners were divided into three age groups: 10 and under, 11 and 12, and 13 and over. Two boys and two girls from eAiell,,..„Kheipl rap in, each. group. Points were awarded on the basis of the finish order and the school with the lowest total for its four runners was declared the winner in each division. An annual track and field meet is held in the late spring by local elementary schools, but observers at last week's meet . said the enthusiasm shown may prompt arrangements for an early spring relay competition. First, second and third in the 10 and under age grouping were Clinton, Robertson. Memorial (Goderich) and Hullett Central Schools, respectively. In the 11 and 12 year-old class, Holmesville placed first, followed by Clinton and Hullett. Central, Robertson Memorial led the oldest age group, with Holmesville and Clinton scoring second in—crthird. BAZAAR and bake sale, Friday November 21st at Christian Reformed Church Hall. The first home game was to be held tonight, but plans were changed when it was learned that Wiarton will be unable to make the first five scheduled games and Shelburne has dropped out of league play. Exhibition matches will be played between Clinton and Seaforth this evening and again Sunday in Seaforth. Attempts were beiiig made this week to line up a home game for next Thursday, but nothing was definite at presstirne. The new line of Paul Draper, Bob Livermore and Butch Fleet scored five of Clinton's eight goals with little Butch Fleet hitting that hat trick in his first league game in the Intermediate ranks. Last season Fleet played Junior hockey for the Zurich Dominions and gained a reputation for his aggressiveness. He battled late in the game with the big defenceman, No. 4, and BY BERT CLIFFORD they received .an. immediate roughing penalty, Creditors. scored ParlY in the first period before Fleet was left alone in front of the net at 5:1'2 of that period. The play was set up by Livermore and Draper. Eight seconds later Little Joe placed a perfect pass On Fleet's stick and Butch fired the puck into the top corner. On the next rush down the ice, Livermore again set up Fleet, but the shot went over top of the crossbar. A defensive lapse late in the dying minutes of the opening period allowed Finder to tie the score. After only 15 seconds of play in the second period, Bob Livermore scored on a beautiful breakaway, He decked out the goalie, then backhanded the puck into the net. He followed with another at 5:22 and scored the same way. In between, Crediton scored and Bud Yeo rapped in a rebound from Grant Volland, Budd Boyes assisted on the play and Bill Jones completed a good passing play set up by Derwin Carter and Harvey Dale. Livermore's second goal made the score 6-3 for the Harold Black, vice president of Clinton Branch 140 of the Royal Canadian Legion, lays branch wreath at the Cenotaph Tuesday at Remembrance Day services. — Staff Photo. Colts. Fleet and Draper picked up assists.. A Crediton goal late in the second peried and three early in the third tied the score before Grant Volland again put Clinton ahead. Fred Lamb played his usual game at centre ice and picked up a loose puck just 30 seconds after Volland's goal. He broke in alone on Daer with Don Bartliff checking him from behind, Daer blocked the shot but Broderick followed in to pick up the rebound to make the score 7-7. Both clubs played fast hockey for the last six minutes, Crediton scored at 13:47 and Fleet's third of the night tied it up again at 8-8. Fleet was pounded into the end boards. At first he appeared to be all right, but then he returned to the bench because he had hurt his leg. Coach Ray Garon was pleased with the showing of the club, but feels the team must start back checking more and the defencernen have to throw some body checks, CLINTEspAcr igys ylF9.110rtilEAvERs\, Bp mom 3/9 Victoria St., Clinton, 482-9653 PAUL KERRIGAN © We Take The Werry Out Of WINTERIZE NOW Snow Tires--Anti-Freeze--Batteries FILL LIP AT PAULI BP SERVICE 365 Victoria St, (Hwy. 4 S.), tlitit0h 4 Road-Tested GasOlints One Just Right For Your Car
