DEAR CONSTABLE:
I have just taken up residence
in Ontario. Am I required to
present a mechanical fitness
certificate when I register the car
in this province?
ANSWER: Yes, you must. The
owner of a motor vehicle
currently registered in any
jurisdiction other than Ontario
who now seeks to register that
motor vehicle in Ontario must
produce a certificate of
mechanical fitness or surrender
the plates.
DEAR CONSTABLE:
Do I require a SMV sign on
my tractor if I have a flashing
red light?
-ANSWER: Yes, you do. The
Highway Traffic Act states every
farm tractor and self-propelled
implement of husbandry when
operated on a 'highway or any
vehicle towed by either of them
shall have a slow moving vehicle
sign attached to the rear thereof
in accordance with the
regulations except when directly
crossing a highway.
