Noble grand Mrs. Earl
Campbell presided for the
regular meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge Sept. 17 with 40
present. The past noble grands
were in charge of the opening
and closing of the meeting.
Visitors were introduced by
their hostess lodge in Hensail
and each guest was presented
with a gift after which the
regular business of the meeting
took place.
Mrs. Clarence Volland and
Mrs. Howard Lemmon reported
having made visits to Queensway
Nursing Home during the
summer months and Presented
32 patients with gifts. Mrs.
Harold Parker and Mrs. Leona
Parke volunteered to visit the
nursing, home in October.
Twenty eligible members will
be presented with their 20-year

ELVA L. JENKINS
Elva L. Jenkins of 50 Orange
St Clinton, died suddenly at
honre on Sept. 15.
The widow of Herbert R.
Jenkins, she was a native of
Goderich Township and had
lived in Clinton 34 years. She
was a daughter of the late
Robert Lewis and Mary Amelia
(Gardner) Proctor.
She was a member of
Wesley-Willis United Church and
the Wesley-Willis United Church
Women. She also belonged to
the Clinton Citizens'
Horticultural Society.
She is survived by a stepson,
William R. Jenkins; a brother, J.
Clifton Proctor; a niece, Mrs.
Shirley Margeson and three
grandsons, Gordon, Steven and
Mark Jenkins.
The funeral service was held
Sept. 19 at Ball Funeral Horne,
Clinton, with the Rev. A. J.
Mowatt of Wesley-Willis Church
officiating. Burial was in Clinton
Cemetery,
Pallbearers were E. Grigg, L.
Jervis, C. Nelson, C. Proctor, C.
Thompson and N. Tyndall.
Flowerbearers were John and
Marty Margeson, and Gordon
and Mark Jenkins.

Bensall Women's Institute
won first prize' at Exeter Fall
Fair for its exhibit which
consisted of five articles for a
child's moth.' The same exhibit
captured first prize at the Zurich
fair on • M,onday. Display

with Mrs. Bertha Jinks. •

Twenty members for Carmel
Presbyterian Church Women's
Missionary Society, attended the
85th anniversary of the W.M.S.
of Knox Presbyterian •Church,
Goderich, Sept. 16.
Terry Sewell, son of Master
Warrant Officer Harry and
Lillian Sewell of Adastral Park,
has enrolled as an officer cadet
in the Canadian Armed Forces.
He was one of eight young men
from southwestern Ontario who
were sworn into the service by
Col. E. W. Ryan, base
commander, CFB Clinton, at a
recent ceremony held in the
London Recruiting Center.
MWO Sewell, who enrolled in
the RCAF in 1937, was a pilot
in World War II and is now
motor transport officer at CFB
Clinton, He will be retiring in
1970 with more than 33 years
service behind him, leaving
Terry, his eldest son, to carry on
the proud tradition of service
which he has established.
Terry attended Central Huron
Secondary School, Clinton,
graduating 'from Grade, 13 this
year: He was president of the
Student Council during his final
year, and acquired an excellent
record of academic achievement
during the five years he attended
the school. He was also an active
member of Adastral Park
:Teen-Town and served a term as
president of this group.
He has been posted to the
service college at Royal Roads,
B.C., for his first two years of
officer training, and will
eventually complete the final
portion of his training at the
Royal Military College,
Kingston, Ont.
