OPP asks help in
Police in Ontario are pushing
their search for a male suspect
believed responsible for a sexual
assault and pistol whipping of a
young girl near Owen Sound
shortly after noon on August 25.
A spokesman for the Owen
Sound Detachment, Ontario
Provincial Police, has described
the suspect as being a man of
medium build and height,
middle aged with reddish, light
brown hair combed back. He
was clean shaven and well
spoken.
At the time of the offence, he
was reported wearing a
short-sleeved gold sport shirt,
green trousers and green canvas
sneakers. He was armed with a

among matters on the agenda for
a special meeting of council with
the town industrial committee
Monday evening.
The annexation, idea was just
mentioned in passing at this
week's council meeting.
councillor,Cameron Proctor told
council that "more than one
well-intentioned citizen" had
said they thought it worthwhile
to explore the possibility.
Councillor Clarence
Denomme asked whether the
Ontario Municipal Board would
permit such an annexation when
much of the acreage within the
town limits is now undeveloped
-and Mayor Symons renlied;
"That's where political .1ads
help — or inroads."

the town "tries to expropriate
part of Tuckersinith."
"That's way over 1,000
acres," said the reeve, adding
that he hopes the town is not
serious about pursuing the
matter because "they'll get a
battle if they do."
Mr, Thompson also said that
Huron County is "looking after"
the job of finding a new use for
the base and he asked why the
town would hire a promoter to
make plans for the base's future,
Mayor Symons had said
Monday that it was: "...good to
see the county concerned
good for the area. We are quite
happy to hear they are prepared
to set up meetings and help in
any way because it is area
growth we are after."
Councillor Denomme,
chairinan of the industrial
committee, advanced his opinion
that there is a need for "a man
working for Clinton's interests"
because that is not always done
by county officials.
Councilor Denomme said that
two industries have contacted
him for information about the
impending base closure and "I
feel we should have someone on
a part-time or full-time basis
who knows the answers. It
should be a man with a direct
line to the (federal) government.
Unless we are right on their tails
we are not going to get the help
people think we will get."
A promoter is needed, said
Councillor Clarence Denommo,
for the next six months to a year
at least or "we will miss the
boat,"
Even if a college or other
MO-commercial use is found for
the base, the councillor said, A
promoter might be successful in
luring to town industries which
come to look at the base.
